Riding Conditions in Encampment

Shhhhhhhh!!!

Encampment is a nice secret sweet riding area. You"re not supposed to tell more people where it is! :face-icon-small-win The Snowies are sooo much better. Everyone should just keep going there. More mountain for us to tear up that way!:D

We'll be in Encampment next week. Pray for more snow!

Mike

Is there no riding in South Dakota or something? All you guys seem to be from SD :confused:

Been saying that for a while but I think that dream is over.....:o

Everyone head to the Snowies:beer;:beer;

down to omaha

shooting down to omaha and over on I80. Should be good driving hopefully and not so cold like they are talking here.

wondering the same thing it looks like there gettin some fresh snow out there right now and a chance for the weekend

Rode Encampment on Saturday. Snow is pretty good with quite of few untouched areas if you know where to look. Powder on top of a good base. Only ran across a couple other riders, so not a lot of competition for the good areas. Visibility faded in and out all day, and was pretty difficult to ride at times. Heard it's supposed to snow more this week, riding should be great again next weekend.

What would you rather ride?? 20-30 inches or 60-80 inches?? I prefer the deep stuff. That's why we don't ride in the hills. If we would ever get some good snow, of course we would stay here.

My question to you is, why would you ever leave Colorado? I love riding CO even better than WY.

Because I own a house on Elk Mountain between the snowies and Saratoga. ;) Just sucks you guys have to drive that far to ride good stuff. Isn't Montana closer?

When highway 296 from Wyoming to Montana is closed, we have to drive all the way up to Billings, over to Bozeman and then down and around and come in the west side of Cooke City. It's about a 10 hr drive. Snowies are about 6, Encampment is about 8, Togwotee is about 8, Rabbitt Ears are about 8. Lately though, we've been riding by Sundance, WY. Pretty good riding with decent snow.

spring end?

Can anyone tell me when the end of the riding season is usually in Riverside/Encampment? For a "normal" year. And of course this year. I have been there alot in the summer but never in the winter..

I was in there the last week of March last year. Ya start losing snow down low and on some of the main trail. Depends how much sun. It's not very high down in there.
