Finally had a chance to flip a leg over a Yeti.
The Kit a 129" and was mounted on a stock YZ450.
The Kit puts the power down well and climbs very well in 2 feet of decent powder. The back suspension is very smooth.
The Ski is lighter in the steering and handles well both on and of trail nice all around, has a little sketchy spot (to much bite in crusty packed trails at times at a slight lean on the outside runner) It is better than the stock Ts ski and close to the TS with the triple carbides with a lighter feel (on trails) If I would ride trails a lot I would stick with TS and triple carbide runners all around.
One thing no one mentioned here is the humm from the track it resonates trough the one piece tunnel . Not a big deal just different.
I come of a 2012 TS SX kit that I had dialled to be the best sow bike for my liking. Yeti or TS I just can not stand that (stiff drive the fork in the ground) feel of any Kit without the 3rd shock. Fact Whooped out trails that are 3 gear stuff on a regular bike are 5th gear wide open on a well set up SX.
On Yeti lost the whole side case for the belt due to some impact. Nice to see that the belt could actually handle the snow and get him home without a problem. There was no damage to the belt or gears
So here goes my Wishlist for my next snowlike.
Closed tunnel design Plastic carbon fibre aluminium I don't care ( sick of wet *** syndrome)
3rd shock is a must (see above)The sport is going that way anyway will be standard before long.
136" by 11 inches wide best all around (like my old Sx kit)Awesome in the pow (puts down power very effective in the 10" ski track) and rail trails like a bike.
Ski--Light steering like the yeti in pow but can live with both.
Now weight and workmanship Yeti sets the standard and no one can afford to be far of that going forward.
Interesting times for the sport anyway.
