Ride Report - Cooke City

Out in Cooke City with Hilly, Jeff C and two others. Avy danger is extremely high so today we played in some safe areas, which isn't to say we didn't find fresh powder!! Snow was deeeeeep with absolutely no base what-so-ever.

We had to work pretty hard to get to some of the areas we rode, and everyone was stuck multiple times!! All in all, great fun.

I'll let Hilly and Jeff C comment on their new M1100T when they get the chance, but I was impressed with how they climbed.

My new '12 Pro RMK ran great all day. It took a little time to get used to but towards the end of the day I had a pretty good "feel" for how it handled in the powder..... Until I introduced my lower a-arm to a rock on the way down a hill, following directly in Jeff C's track. Busted it right off, although that seems to be about the extent of the damage.

MDS weights in the RMK seemed to work really well. The power was always there when I needed it.

Anyway, just thought I'd give a little ride report.

Joe........

are you going to get running?

Have fun be safe. Keep those turbos in the trees.

Well, my RMK was fixed up and ready to ride Tuesday morning. The snow wasn't as deep Tuesday, as it had a little chance to set up. Again, the Pro RMK ran strong. We had a M800 rental in the group during this ride and both of us agreed the Pro RMK is the better sled right now. Polaris just has this thing working (as long as the engine stays together)....

I continued to be impressed with the M1100T's. You could just see Hilly and Jeff C getting more comfortable as the day went on. Yes, they are heavy, but that's what friends are for...

With that said, don't park your M1100T uphill (Jeff C) and please try not to hit any trees (Hilly)...

All in all, what a great trip. Great snow and a great way to get through this horrible MN winter.

One other thing, Rick at Exxon in Cooke City is one heck of a guy. He knows his stuff when it comes to sleds and is very easy to work with. Thanks to him I didn't miss a single second of riding, even though my sled was in his shop getting worked on two times in two days.

Thanks again to Rick and everyone else at Exxon in Cooke.

Why don't you put the Cooke City ride reports in the Montana section where it belongs and where all the other Cooke forums are? Thanks for coming out and spending your money here in MT though.
