Ride out of Lava Mountain Lodge?

Can you ride out of the Lava Mountain Lodge area? Just wondering if there is enough snow to get to the CDST yet. Thanks

Headed that way on the 28th. My guess is yes, but the snow may be thin in spots. Most years there is enough snow by New Years to ride with no problem.

yes you can. but if you are leaving/coming in from the trails can be rough! they groom that trail pritty much whenever they feel like it but otherwise the service at lava mt. is great.

They are working on a new groomer for this year. I was up there Thursday night and sat in the shop with Cowboy Jim. It's a six wheeler with tracks on it. It will pull more weight than the sled he was using to groom with last year so he will be able to load the drag a little heavier.

I thought the state groomed that?

Let's keep it in perspective here, Yes there is rarely deep powder in that area of the mountain. I can remember years there the snow was over the fences.
But Rave is asking if there is enough to get to the CD trail. As most of the reply's have said yes you can ride in and out of Lava Lodge.
As for the trail grooming, I believe the State only maintains a portion of the Trail as part of it goes through private property. ( Could Be Wrong!!! )

My Family has a cabin 2 miles from the Lodge and in the 20+ years of riding rarely do we have any problems riding out of there until late March!

Thanks, Merry Christmas

Thanks for all of the "on topic" replies. Looking forward to getting out there, it has been a few years since we have ridden the area.
