Man I would huck the cable steering as far as I could, anything fast need's hydraulic just so you can counter chinewalk with the wheel instead of letting off the throttle
It's cool driving a boat through scary chine walk
You can get a steering mounted trim switch, I like it better than the foot or control box switch
Have you got a remote water pickup? when you get the motor height cranked it can starve the motor of water, water pressure gauge is a good item for a performance boat, temp gauges react far too slowly

I was thinking of just that, however, with the foot throttle, it's easier to counter however I know the hydralic would be ideal.

Yeah I'm looking for some options regarding. Only found a couple so far. Otherwise I'd use a foot switch.

Another thing the old guy mentioned. I don't have one, but need not worry until next season.

When I was over 5000rpm I felt there was still much boat i nthe water. However that could have been the lack of air as there was next to no chop to help. I'm sure I'll hit 80 with some decent chop.

I know I should be happy with what I got, and I know it's more work and trouble that I'm getting into but for those few mph I'm gaining....well it's worth it to be the fastest on the river isn't it? haha

What brand prop you running? I had a buddy with a 19' Hydrostream. He tried a Lazer II but it burned holes in the water. He had I think a 31 chopper that worked well. Got about 90 out of that boat.:D

It's a Solas prop. I'm going home this wekeend for a bit, I'll rack dad's brain about his Cougar and waht he figures for this thing.

On another note, dad took the boat out last night with my step-mom.....she wasn't in the boat when it happened but dad cranked on it a little too hard and it chucked him, and his buddy out of the boat. Said he cleared a good 25ft or so. First thing he said to me was, "It doesn't handle as well as my Cougar" Yeah.....no kiddin. haha. No harm no fowl.

Sounds like it handles better than the Cougar:D Tell him to hold on next time.:beer;

I guess I shoulda mentioned, it's because of the new cables. Before, at 4500rpm the steering would lock up. So at 3800rpm he yanked on it with no regards to the fact it steers the way it should now. The Cougar turns on a dime, way way faster. This just caught him offguard.
