Reverse doesn't work??

Getting an 06 RMK 600 ready to go that we bought earlier this fall, just noticed that the reverse doesn't work on it. Emailed the previous owner and he said it was because he changes the helix in them to non reverse helix, but I think there's more to it... it doesn't do anything when you push the button. So I'm thinking either the switch is bad or maybe it's idling too high? It idles at about 22-2250, what is the cutoff that these wont go into reverse? I've got a couple other sleds here that I'll try the switch on one of these days if the RPM deal isn't it, anything else I could check out?? Everything appears to be plugged in.

You should be able to see ER stamped on the helix, if it is for reverse. These 600s typically idled slow due to the rich low speed jetting. My guess is that the previous owner messed with this also. The proper idle speed should be 1500 (+ or - 200). If you press and release the reverse button it should do something. The rpms should drop to a near stall. You may have to try slowing the idle first. You will need the ER helix for it to ever back up.

It doesn't have a reverse helix in it, got one on order. But I figured the switch should still restart it in reverse, just wouldn't go anywhere.

It's got a Carl's 685 kit in it, so it's been "messed" with....

Surely the stator didn't get messed with so it wouldn't fire backwards. It would sound like the wiring isn't "killing" the engine.

Make sure the perc button is plugged in between the airbox and steering post, if it isn't your perc won't work...
