Reverse ? 08 MTX

Hey guys first time posting on snowest was wondering if anyone has had the same issue and if there is a fix. I ride an 08 MTX 153'

From ridding most of day i would go to use my reverse and i can not pull it into reverse it just wont go but i get in the garage it works fine and when i first start ridding fine. Was wondering is snow packing in there?

Any help is appreciated thank you guys

I have seen a few like this mine is also. If I recall correctly hold the brake when putting it in reverse may help or rocking the sled forward and back when shifting to reverse.

Welcome to snowest!

Like sledheadd said, Try to "rock" the sled front to back a little. On mine it seems like sometimes the gears don't mesh correctly, but usually a bump on the throttle, or a little "rock" and it goes right in.

They freeze up too where the shaft comes through the guide to the lever depending on how your problem is, sometimes you cant even pull it out even when frozen. Shad

i know your problem. look where the little tie rod end attaches to the chaincase arm....that hits the aluminum footwell bracket when trying to put in reverse. if you look on a 2010 it has a cutout there for this issue yamaha updated it. solution on the 2008 is to take a piece of metal rod or punch and put a dent in that area to give it some extra clearance.

I have had the same issue where the return spring that is on the lever where you pull gets full of snow and the spring can't compress like it should when you go to pull it. When it thaws out the snow is out of the spring so it works fine.
