I have another week long ride planned in mid-late Febuary already, but I would be down for anytime late March.

It is worth noting that during the main part of the season when the storms roll in, visibility up there goes to chit... might be a better idea to plan it a bit later to have a better chance at good weather. just my opinion

I have only ridden Revy on 2 occassions so I really dont know enough about the mountain to do much more than follow along.

BUMP
I am good for any date through the season, I just need 2 or 3 weeks notice to book holidays.
Let's here some more preferred dates so we can hopefully come to some middle ground that covers the most people, especially those with long distances to travel.

Ok...
March sounds like it works best for the majority of us then, and sounds good to me!
Thoughts?
Objections?

Sometime in march sounds good to me...

My next question would be how long of a trip would we all be looking at for SLEDDING? Do we want to do 3 days, 4 days? Also, when during the week do we want to plan for? Do we want to use a weekend for sledding or travel? Something like drive up Monday, sled tues, wed, thurs, fri, and drive home saturday and have sunday to recover from the trip and back to work monday?

So lets hear some thoughts on 3 or 4 days, and some thoughts on sledding days.... I will see if I can add a poll to make it easier.

A poll has been added.

Once we find out how long and when during the week people would like to be on the hill, we can go ahead and figure out a date to set.

Does anyone know if there are any other Events planned in Revy anytime in March that we may want to avoid?

I think we should add 2 days to the Poll, a lot of people will need to make it a long weekend style trip.

I'm in for 3 days :D

Don't forget to also pick the days you would most likely want to be riding... I set it up as a 2-part, multiple choice poll.

4 days of hard riding... and getting sleds unstuck, and travel fatigue... that is pretty tough stuff.

i voted..

i am pretty flexible, so what the majority wants to do i can work around it...as long as the dates are set by NOV so i can forecast it..but the airfoce can be a PINA getting time off..but shouldnt be much of an issue ;)

i voted to ride mon/tues/wed..i am off every other sun-tues so it would be easy for me to have those days off already (and would only need to take off wed that week) and i would drive up there on sunday and drive back on thurs

im stoked...

"Hi Dan,

Thanks for your email.

I am not aware of any large events planned for Boulder and Turtle in March 2011 by either the Revelstoke Snowmobile Club or the Snowmobile Revelstoke Society.

This would be my idea. Early to Mid-March is usally the quietest as far as events go. Days are longer the later it is.

Have the option of a 3 or 4 day ride for everyone. Even a 2 Day ride for peeps having difficult time getting away.

Travel Wednesday

Ride Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Return Sunday or if peeps wanted to ride Sunday also...

Return Monday.

Generally though, after day 3 of these rides, I don't know anybody who's wanting to ride the 4th day. I'm usually jello by day 3.

Revelstoke Bed and Sled

My mother in law just started a bed and breakfast in Revelstoke, she has 3 queen size beds and 3 singles. Her place is immediately outside of town (3 minutes) and she has large parking turn for big trailers and is private, and secure. The house includes a hot tub and great mountain views. She is not a hippie and sledders are welcome. :)

contact is:

phone her for prices.

Sounds good to me.

End of Jan/Feb seems ideal for the snowpack coverage.

It would be good to have lodging plans at hand as well... The Glacier house is pretty pricey, but it is right at the trail head. The Monashee lodge is clean, affordable and sledder friendly in the parking.

I'm sure the locals might have some better options.

Booking the hotel in advance and making sure it is not on some other festival/ride weekend would be best. I don't think that the BIS will happen this year, but there are the ladies ride and other events that can make the town/mountian crowded.

Looking fwd to this ride.

Looks like we got 10 voters on the poll so far....

I'm thinking leave it open for another week and once we have the days of the week picked, I'll throw up a new poll for each of those days during the entire month of March... leave it open for 2 weeks and then we will have our finalized dates and the people who need to can put in for Vacation time right away.
