Revelstoke 2013 - 14

Picture from Revy

I snapped this on my way to work this morning, looking up the Jordan valley. This morning temperature was hovering around zero C on our side of town, as I got close to the shop I saw ice on vehicle windows. ...getting to be a chilly ride to work on my Harley.

Cant say for sure

I haven't been up in over two weeks, bu tI don't think that we have had much for accumulation. The Global News was saying this morning that we are on day 17 of no rain in October, which is somewhat unusual. Of course they are referring to the GVRD area, but we haven't had much for precipitation either, some drizzling but nothing of substance. Forecasts are for continued dry for the next week due to the large High Pressure ridge reaching up into Alaska and the Territories.

Fear not though, as we all know, when Mother Nature decides to, she will dump it huge, probably starting around the end of the month by the projected weather maps.

Riding in Revelstoke

Where is a good place to stay in Revelstoke? How far is the drive from town to ride? Is it better to stay in town vs closer to riding areas?
Thanks for the advice!!

Several great places

There are several great places to stay in Revelstoke. Go on the City of Revelstoke website for a link to all of the Hotels/Motels/Lodges. If sledding from your room is your desire, check out the Peaks or Glacier House. As convenient as it is to ride from your room, you are somewhat restricted to eating at same establishment. If you don't mind loading and unloading your sleds, then there are many good places in town, which in turn offer you a multitude of choices for eating and/or evening entertainment.

There are some private Cabins available as well.

Days Inn
Best Western
Super Eight
Sandman
Regent
Powder Springs

There are lots more, again check the website link.

As for distance to riding, two of main riding areas are within a few kilometers of town, some of the other areas are as far as 50 kilometers away.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Forecast is looking pretty good for next couple weeks!!!! Anybody bin up yet. Heading for the annual first trip in first week of December. Hoping all the creek holes in the trees r filled up.

Well boys, this site is pretty slow. Revy is rocking. Rode the 8th and 9th at Frisby. She's decent. Waist to chest deep. Best early season riding yet.

But be careful. There's still landmines out there. This guy was blatantly spinning over tree tops with his M1100 and it cost him. If you see any lumps in the snow, don't run them over.

This is why you don't ride as early as November 10th lol... its just to early in the season to start spending money like this lol.

This guy did it to himself. 250hp and spinning WOT over visible tree tops is what caused this. We saw it happen and it wasnt smart. Lol

Sounds like from all the reports it happened to the right guy. A lot of us have tried but it all comes down to ya just can't fix stupid. I never wish bad luck on anyone but sometimes ya wished they just stayed home.

these pictures are unreal for early season snow.....

riding only for a few seasons and still considering myself and most of my riding partners novice to intermediate , is there much riding that would be challenging yet not "too risky" for a diverse group like ours??? any input would be great.. thnx in advance..
