I just got back to Calgary from Revy today. I got there Thurs night, and rode Boulder Fri and Sat. When I drove into town Thurs, there was no snow at all in town, and on Fri morning, had to drive up around 4kms to stage. Trail was whooped to crap all the way up. Visibiliy was ok, rode around the meadows. Trail up to Alberta hill was icy, and was carnage for 2 way traffic on the single track from the cabin. Definitely was early season riding, alot of trees and rocks, really had to be careful, snow was ok, 6-8 inches of fresh. Tree riding was the best for the day, as up top was more sketchy.
Snowed most of the afternoon and all night. Woke up Sat morning to 10-12 inches on the truck. Staged at the parking lot, trail was groomed, a bit better, whooped up top a bit. Visiblility was terrible, rode in trees all day, 2-3 ft of pow, great day. Still had to watch for creeks and rocks, but becoming a really good base.
Snowed all night again, and woke up to another 10-12 inches on the truck again. Unfortunately I had to leave this morning as I blew my rear shock on my Rev due to the whooped out trail coming down yesterday.
Highways coming back to Calgary were terrible this morning, snowy, icy spots, wash board. From Banff to Calgary, cars in ditch everywhere...
I think this is the start to good season in Revy now..... next week should be really good... drive safe...
Sorry, no pics, I didn't have my camera.
