revalve or float conversion

I'm trying to decide to either get my 05 m7 rear skid revalved by holz or get the float conversion. I'm for sure sending in the front but undecided what to do for the rear. I got new iceage rails for the rear sense my other rails r pretty beat up. I'm thinking i should probably go with the conversion for now. I rode an 09 last year and it was a bid difference compared to mine. Anyone rode a revalved 05 suspension vs the float conversion?

The 09 skid is a lot better. Plus they can be had for about $450 new from FreeAgent on the forums. Best cheap skid upgrade for 05-07. Just make sure you have the high front mount point like the holz brackets on 05/06, or like 07 and newer rails.

do the '09 conversion on your Ice age rails and upgrade to a Evol R and get the adjustment needed to dial in the ride for how you ride!

my own 2 cents about the regular fox floats, i hate them, as far as shredding some nice vergin powder they are awesome, as far as wailing down the trail they really suck in the agressive terrain, i find they dont have fast enough rebound and tend to stay compressed when your hammering through the whoopy trails or something like that, i have an 09 m1000 mod with 500miles on it and id be more then happy to part with my fox floats if anyone wanted them. my 06 m7 with the regular fox zeros rides like a cadillac compaired to my new m1000.

What he said.

The floats really arent what they are talked up to be and they really arent all that special. The only thing you gain is you save about .3 lbs. It is not much.

I have them on my 08 M SP and they suck.

Revalve yours and be happy. Plus when it comes time to revalve the Fox Floats the parts are almost twice the money.

can you buy the float conversion and take the float shock off and use the zero pro from the '05 skid on that skid set-up?

Maybe so, but I put an 08 float on my 05 m-sled and it was night and day difference. Now I just have to figure out how to keep the front end down and the best transfer with this turbo????????

I revalved my 07, it was a big difference, but after putting an 08 skid on the same sled, I'd never go back.

Btw, not shure where the F lynxer got the .3 figure from, but there's a significant loss to be had with the float skid.

I can see where the repeated abuse of a whooped out trail would get to the floats, but I can tell you that it has done plenty well on big hits.

i think he was talking about the difference in just the shock weight, not the weight difference of the entire conversion. i think the snopro is like 1 pound lighter than the standard version. so i guess each fox float is about .3 pound lighter than a zero pro...

.3 lbs wow.......... I think I am going back to Torsion Springs in the rear and Leaf Springs on the front of my 2010 M8!

The 09 skid is 8 lbs lighter than 07 per my scale.

I think the ".3" guy is talking about floats on the FRONT. Actually the scale says 1.2 lbs per pair on an M which is a lot less than the sales guys say when they ate trying to upsell you to the snopro........

I was talking about the front shocks and excuse me 1.2 lbs. Maybe cut down on the cheeseburgers and take the 1.2 off yourself. It is probably alot more benneficial than the 1.2 lbs. you take off using the floats. I know the 09 skid is lighter I agree with that, but I thought we were talking about shocks here not skids.

Well, not really.

He's asking about a coil revalve job compared to a float conversion. It's kinda take it or leave it on the floats isn't it? Could you do the new float skid & put a coil under it? Maybe a zbros, Would it be worth it? I wouldn't lose the new skid for anything, but if it'd ride that much better with another shock under there, I'm game.

Every ounce counts though!!!!:D (but yeah, it wouldn't hurt to cut down on the cheeseburgers either!)
