rev gearing

looking to gear down my 05 rev 800, what are the pros and cons also what combination seems to work for people who have done it?
thanks.

I have an 07 xrs 159 I weigh about 210 went to 18/47 she like to hold her track speed now! Still can get 70 plus on the flats.

18 is a small top gear. IMO stay with the 19 and jump to 47 on the bottom. Not sure if you can go any larger on the bottom without having case clearance problems. With a 18 or smaller top gear the chain life decreases, the chain rolls tighter over the gear (pinch). If you want to go lower, change your drivers ... 10~9~8.

The 05 Rev has a 2" track and a 10 tooth driver. The 06 and 07 had 9 tooth driver and taller track. Your gearing choice depends on track lug and driver.
My 05 has the 2" 151 19/45. I did change to a stiffer spring in the primary. It has been several years ago so I don't remember the spring load but it was 160/290 or something like that.
The spring made a bigger improvement than the gearing.

gear it down

I changed to a 19/47, I believe that 47 is a large as you can go without modifying the case. It makes a bunch of difference. The sled comes up on the power at a much lower speed and has a bunch more low end pull. I can still run 70.

the 7t drivers are super small, dont know exactly what mine is, i think its either stock 05 gears for the rt1000 or slightly larger on bottom. but having the smaller drivers makes if have crazy low end snort. she pics up and GOES till about 50 then it starts to level off a little more.

droping the gearing will allow the engine to put the power to the track more effieciently, and help belts last longer, cuz last time i checked us mountain sledders dont need to go 90+ mph. i should have geared my 738 down, as with the 144x2 i could go 95, but had crap track speed in the deep.

whats the deal with the team HYVO chain and gears, stronger? having a 19/47 set up with 8 tooth 2.52 drivers would probably be geared to low? any help/feedback greatly appreciated.

There is so many things that come into play. Your clutches, gears, drivers, and track. Still dont know much about it and people have their different reasons. Im goint to run 19/47 with 10 tooth drivers. I think it kind of goes back to the invention of the wheel... The rounder the easier it rolls. Just my opinion.
