well how good is a rev 600 w/ 144 for a boondocker for a 13 year old

Still, he will become a better overall rider as he progress up through engines vs just throwing him on a 800 or 1K.
I had an 05 Summit 600 back in the day and I got around fine with it and kept up with the 800's. I didnt set any highmarks, but I don't think thats what a 13 year old should be doing anyways.

I agree, although I still have my 600. I prefer my 800 but the 6 is still fun to ride sometimes.
My wife rides a 06 600 sdi they are great sleds! Never had any problems. Great on gas, oil, and always starts in one pull! 
my lil brother is 11 and has a 03 600 ho w/ 136. granted he is lighter. but the track is shorter too. he loves it. it will float well and have enough power for almost everything he is doing. but like said above, isnt going to be setting highmarks. but on the other hand, it gets greak gas mileage and sips oil.
My sister has an 05 600 that rips like the 800's until you get into really deep powder or steep hills. Until then you would not really be able to tell that it is just a 600. Great, dependable sled.
