Retirement fund ????

Here I am 4 months short of 70 years old and my retirement fund has gone down 47 % since Pelosi and dirty Harry took over in January 2007. They promised to fix everything, but it wasn't even broke yet, and it has been all down hill since then. Now the whole freaking bunch is back in. You wanted "change", but it looks like you are getting Bill Clinton's third term instead. Way to go guys! I am so happy this morning, I could just s--t, but I am sure it's all George Bush's fault. Change all right.
It's just too damn bad, stupid isn't painful. Just my rant.

I's not the Dems or the Reps fault, it's the times, market is up(all time high last winter), then it's down, been going on forever. If you have money in the markets you can't forget about for 7-10 years, It's in the wrong place. I'll be happy to take the gains in the marketfrom the Clinton era. Signed a Republican Voter.

Actually the current problems in the markets can be directly traced back to the dems and what they did with the housing market.

As for the big 3 auto makers, that can be directly linked to the unions and their flat out greed. When it costs twice as much per hour to have an american auto maker put a car together, don't be suprised when the company goes bust.

Get you money out of the stock market now if you can.
When the Savior gets into office he will begin to punish any buisness still open with new taxes and force them to provide medical care for all. When that happens you will see the stock market seriously crash.

The auto makers were just giving us what the American people wanted bigger, more power, gas milage who gives a rats... ARH,ARH,ARH (think Tim the Toolman). Then gas went to $4.++ . Them auto dudes can't re-tool overnight. They were sellin what we wwer buyn. As for my dough it's staying put, It will come back...........someday!

dow is half what it was suppose to be in 08..... they were sayin around 16000..its below 8000.. wont be long til it hits 6000... then 4000????? Pull out. let this hit bottom so we can start rebuilding. If I was soon retireing, Id take all the money I could get out, because the arrogant business pr!k's are going to take it somehow, and just live the rest of your life... run out of money. o well, not going to mean anything where were going.

At least it's not money we need for retirement, it;s mainly a contingency and toy fund so we might as well ride it ride it out now. Ford stock is 1.26 this morning but why waste 1.26. Yes the democrats started telling the nation 4 years ago the economy was in the tank and they finally got it done. The ploy was to get themselves back in power and now they may have gotten more than they bargained for. I will be the first to say I told you so. It's just that when you work hard and save and take care of yourself and not ask any thing from any one else you get **** on anyway. This crash did NOT have to happen. To boil it all down, the whole thing, housing, banking and all was caused by trying to buy votes.

I am not sure here but if you trusted your money to banker or stock brokers or hedge fund managers, I really dont think you have any room to complain to anyone. When you let other people use your money you cannot expect them to do the right thing for you. The human condition dictates they will take care of themselves first then you last if its easy otherwise why should they care they made there commissions.

I am sorry but I believe your money should be kept under your matress figuratively of course.

Trust the boys in the $1000 suits your gonna get burned eventually.

Now that I have cooled off I guess I didn't explain quite what I really am mad about. I fully understand that if the country survives then my fund will come back. That is not what I am mad about. The problem is that the Democrats were willing to put this country into a depression just to feather their own nests and buy votes to get their power back. I am doing alright but I'll bet a lot of people aren't. I still have my abilities and my equipment and I can start over if I have to but I know a lot of other people who can not. That is what I am growling about and I think it is not that this country isn't what it once was but a lot of people here aren't what they ought to be any more.

OH the Reps and the Dems had a LOT to do with it!!! Mostly the Dem's though.

When oil was allowed to go to $140.00 per barrel that was the catalyst to get the avalanche of bad economic decisions and their outcomes started. THere are still people out there who need to tow a trailer or sleds and take crap to the dump and pick up groceries from time to time. We don't all live 200 feet from a mini mall. People stopped buying 90% of what American automobile manufacturers were building when gas hit the big numbers. Now that oil is back to where it should be (make a profit but still be cheap enought for joe citizen to afford it) people are less inclined to buy a pea shooter car and are looking at what they want instead. You can't change 100 years of automobile building overnight. Not everyone wants to drive a pea shooter.

If you have money in, keep it in, don't lock in your losses.

The best thing you can do is to keep investing.

The markets will come back, and when they do, you will be so much better off than if you would have sold at such low levels.

DO NOT PANIC AND SELL!

What Jeff C said.
May have to tighten the belt a little right now but it should come around.
Anyway, it better cuz It would be tough to survive on food stamps in this day and age

Dow is off only 50% of it's highs during the great depression we were off 89% off the highs. You do the math get out while you still have something left then buy back in and hold for 20 years to get any return.

Ditto's.

Wolfrun, I'm closing in on 67, and its very disturbing to see what I've worked for and tried to invest wisely erode away.

But the only thing to do is to hang in there, and if the funds I'm invested in don't go completely bankrupt, they will eventually come back, but how old will I be by then??

To sell now, as somebody suggested would be a losing mistake for sure. Yup, the Demirats are the type of people who have to create a problem so they can ride in on the proverbial white horse and solve the problem they created, (in their own minds ) and get all the "atta boys".

I used to work with people like that , on the job. I'll bet most everybody knows people like that.

Another way of looking at it, it's "Mind over matter. They don't mind, and we don't matter."

well being 25 and married with 2 kids I have zero money to invest right now and non invested cause I partied my first few years of income away:beer;

So I guess I'm not to worried right now. I plan on keeping my house and I have some land that I own. Hopefully in 5 years or even less the markets are coming back and I have money to invest....sure wish I had some to buy with now.

Wiz, if it gets bad I hear Ken-Tec(sp) a mining outift working over around McGregor and Tamarack will be hiring operators and workers starting in January. Heck if you don't want to make the hour drive each day I bet you could rent my old bedroom out.

Well, it not like I'm gonna be out on the street or anything, its just very frustrating. Financially I'm OK for now. Just gonna be less for the kids and grand kids for a while.
If I needed to, I could always do electronic service around this area. Plenty of opportunities I've turned down. Allows more time for the Trail Association.
