Renting Beacons???

I know they can be a lifesaver, but at a couple hundred bucks in this economy, that purchase would be a hard pill to swallow. does anyone in the laramie area rent beacons??? 3 of us are coming out the first week of march.

Are you serious? Buy beacons, take an avie course, until then stay off the steep slopes. Plenty of places to ride until you have some avie knowledge.

give him a break, at least he's inquiring, never said he was going to climb without one

I think that Maverick motorsports, in Laramie, rent them, an avy course is a very good idea, good luck

Maverick rents beacons and SPOT's, rent BOTH! Then learn how to use them before you head uphill.

thanks for the info, we've been going to the snowies for about 5 yrs now, only one trip a year. we generally stay out of the avalanche areas on the trialmaps. i ride a 136 with two buddies with shortrack xp's. most of our riding is in the meadows, not real big into the steep and deep, highmarking etc. with all the deaths this year, just thought we'd err on the safe side. never rode out there with beacons. i actually found out that some buddies of ours close by have the setups and are going to let us take them on our trip. if that falls thru we'll check maverick.

thanks again

I used to think the same thing. But really...a couple hundred bucks? You wouldn't even think twice about spending that money on a shiny new "mod" for your sled. He!! you buy a few rounds in the bar after riding and you can spend a couple hundred bucks! Just spend the money, it's alot better than coming home in a pine box;)
