Removing skid

04 800 summit .... I'm fairly new to wrenching on sleds and don't know how to change the track? Do I need to remove the drive shaft? If so, how do I do this?
Im thinking about putting a 156 CE 2.5" on.

thanks

just the skid you only need to undo the 4 bolts........

I want to see you change a track without pulling the driveshaft--LMAO

Jason--you are right--you have to pull the driveshaft.

Pull the bolts out of the bearing on the left side--then open the chaincase and remove the chain and lower gear--there is a snap ring holding in the bearing on the gear side--remove the snap ring--then slide the driveshaft out to the other side--it is a pain working with the track weight on it.

of course the skid has to come out--but that is the easy part.

Also--I do not know that a 2.5 will clear without a drop on the driveshaft.
Might ask about that. A 2.25 will clear I know--but it was aweful tight.

Thanks Paul :beer;
I have a drop and roll and it looks like there is plenty of clearance between the shaft and the lug tips now to get another 1/4" in there (already have 2 1/4" Mav). Kinda hard to measure but it looks like a 1/2" clear!
