Removal of front shock on rear suspension

I need to remove the shock to replace the spring with the 225lb on my 05 900. Is there any trick to getting the shock out or is it straight forward? Thought I would ask before tear into it and finding out I bent/broke something due to the spring's tension.

Hi Benamen
When I replaced mine all I did was compress the suspension in the rear with a hold down strap. Unbolted the limiter straps and raised the rear end of the sled dropping the suspension enough to unbolt the upper end of the shock. Rotate the shock backwards towards the rear end of the suspension pull the boot off of the shock and and there is a spring retainer clip that holds the spring in place. You might have to compress the spring a little. Pull the clip off then the spring and put on the new spring and resemble in reverse order. This didn't take me very long. Good Luck

Thanks for the info. I have nver tore into the rear suspension before so was not sure how to proceed.

Ben
