Remembering the good old days... after 8 years of Bush!

true americans will not sit back and get ran over by socialism. the threshold is being reached, quickly....our history shows that fighting for your beliefs is critical to happy existance. canada is a great place, and I am happy to have you as neighbors, but I will be damned if I want your form of government....if I did, I would have made the 50 mile drive across the border:beer;

Im one of those Americans my friend! ....and I will be damned also if I accept full blown socialism....we have been half way there for a long long time....welfare (food stamps, Medicaid, child care assistance, cash assistance-includes clothes and cars), housing assistance, utility assistance, huge tax returns for those that do nothing....get far more than they put in......I could go on and on about all the free handouts. PATHETIC! I am willing to help the down and out to get back on their feet, but not lazy a$$ people that don't want to better themselves. Shove socialism up your a$$ dems and Obama....tick tock ....the clock is ticking on you Obama and dems!

C'mon man your all being short sighted, if you want to look way back Truman era, gov spending to create the national deficit (dem)

how about how we got into this mess.........Clinton do you even know about the 40's rule where he allowed lenders to up margin lending from 8% to 40 %, thats how the lenders got the special deals!!!!!

but lets not forget the biggest losers of them all....... C'mon think,,,,,,keep thinking.....try harder.....

everyone wants to blame one person or a small group of people (congress) nope WRONG....keep thinking

WE ARE TO BLAME.......We as a society want want want want, not a bad thing except when abused, if you make $40,000 you cant afford a damn $400,000 dollar damn house and a $50,000 dollar truck and $35,000 car.

We the general public cannot control out finances and we better damn well learn to in a hurry before the government decides they can do a better job (socialism).

Work hard, pay in cash.....pay attention during elections.

Good to see some out there still have some fight left in them. Here's my question. Keep in mind I'm very Republican but also I like to think I'm a logical thinker... Anyway, the bills that are passed anymore, are passed without the average person even knowing they are in consideration. In order for this government to be of the people bills would be passed in a different way. Right now it is set up that we don't know about most of the policies being set into play. Even if we were to not have a job, family, bills, etc., I don't think we would have enough time in the day to find out what is actually happening with our federal government much less do anything about it.

To do anything about it, you must convince people to write their senators and congressman and you must have a large following of people in order to get their attention regarding just ONE particular issue. I've encountered this while dealing with trying to keep our public lands open. Tell me how many middle working class people can take the time out of their day to take all the the action required to doing much about it. It seems like our government passes laws to keep the working class, the obvious majority, going so hard that we don't have time to regulate what they are passing day in and day out. If this was the case, the ridiculous amount of earmarks and pork-barrel spending would not keep happening.

What more really needs to happen before we ARE a full blown socialist government??? And accept it or not, thats where it's headed if nothing is done about it soon. There's nothing wrong with helping the people that are down and out. I think there should be something in effect there but it must be carefully chosen so as to not be abused. Do I have all the answers? Not even in the slightest bit but I am smart enough and current enough to know that the people that were voted into office to speak for "the people" are not doing their intended jobs.

Our founding fathers would kick our @$$es if they saw that everything that they worked so hard for, and bled for, ended up where it is today.

One thing I've learned from Business and the Stock Market is, they don't work off what happened, they work off what's going to happen. Someone attacks (or threatens to attack) a oil supply source, and the price bounces. Someone says something good about a new drug, the stock bounces.

Point is, Business saw the Democrats taking control, and in a big way. Two branches of government totally under their control. Even before Obama rose above the rest. They saw the handwriting on the wall. Bush bad, uber liberals good. But, uber liberals bad for business. It doesn't help any that our Republican representatives have become no better than most liberals. The tax and pork physical policies suck. It also doesn't help that moving your production over seas is rewarded.

IMO, Bush made plenty of mistakes. Number one being, he let Osama escape. And, the reason he let Osama escape, is his damn single minded pursuit of Iraq. He also, didn't put the brakes on the economy when the housing boom was over heating. (But what president wants to be blamed for crashing the economy) And, Bush started a lot of this stimulus package crappola, otherwise known as federal money giveaways. Anyway, I did a lot better under Bush than I did before, and after.

But, I really don't like this country becoming a Socialist country. I'd rather be a lot poorer, rather than a lot less free. We gotta find good people to send to Washington. And, a good person to run for President. Put this country back on the right path. Or, I fear what may happen.

Bingo! Our founding fathers would be disgusted...well they are as they watch. I'm not so sure that the situation in England was any worse than what it is today when the pilgrims set off for Plymouth Rock....they wanted to get away from taxation without representation.....hmmmmm.

Only problem is we're gonna have to kick the chit out of them so we can stay here.

Fine with me, I'm cocked and loaded.

I can remember the moment I knew our country was tending towards socialism and nobody noticed. in his DNC speech, Obama was speaking about the government and its help for those who are underprivileged. he said saomehting to the effect of, the Republicans believe that you should put yourself through college and the govenment won't help. And, if you don't currently have a way to get there, well, pull yourselves up by your bootstraps and make it. And if you don't have bottstraps, find a way to get them.
Well, Obama apparently believes the government should buy everyone boots and straps, and then pay for them to get their bootstraps to college and make a living. I find two things wrong with this.

Number one, I am not a socialist. Yeah, the Republicans (generally capitalists) believe people make their own way in life, and the government is not their to coddle everyone financially.
Number two, if everyone in this country goes to college, what then is the esteem in a degree? This country needs high school graduates to run properly, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. My uncle dropped out of high school and is now very successful with his own heating and cooling business. Send everyone to college, and it means nothing anymore.

No, your uncles successful because he works hard for a living. Everyones problem is that they want everything givin to them, they don't want to work and IMO they need to go get bent. The working class shouldn't have to pay for it.

I remember having some heated debates years ago on this site about George Bush... No one could explain to me why he was going to be such a great President returning for a second term.... I am wondering if anyone can explain to my why he was a good President now?????

Now looking back at the last 8 years that Bush led the country... what do you think of him now? Was it still a good choice to elect him in for 2 terms?

:beer; < here is hoping that the US economy turns around soon... it is such a downer on the rest of the world! :(

When the alternative was to elect Al Gore and John Kerry, George Bush was a good choice.

Great point spomey... it seems that everyone is pointing fingers at the dems or what happened in the past... PERSONAL GREED had a lot to do with where the USA is now!

I am very knowledgable on world events, just not so much on Canada. Does that tell you something? Maybe Canada isn't very important when it comes to us Americans.:rolleyes:QUOTE]

LMAO... you just answered your own question... maybe it was my bad... shouldn't have said world events... I should have said your "neighboring country events"... the same country that provides you with a TON of natural resources to power the country... for starters...

PS... to your point... who cares about Canada's Prime Minister... I don't and I live here!

X2 I learned my lessons about credit along time ago. Pay cash for my toys. Credit cards payed off every month. Live within my means.

The kid next door, nice Dodge truck, Tahoe, hot rod, crotch rocket, big house, turbo sled, work truck. Just turned 21. Can't afford to go out to breakfast. All on credit.

People are losing their (perceptive status) lifestyle . Big house gone, boat gone etc. because of credit that they could not afford. Now with unemployment at 8% or better. All this personal debt will not be paid. (If you need a new toy, go talk to your banker or financial lending institution.)

I believe that we are mostly responsible for where we are today. Along with lending practices that were established years ago. What happened to working and paying for the American Dream. Just because you get an offer you can't refuse, refuse it. People are blaming the predatory lenders. BS

This goes back farther than Bush, Bill wanted everybody to have a home so that they could build wealth with assets. But along with that newly developed status of being a homeowner and having the ability to borrow against your house (2nd Mortgage) to pay off credit cards, or get a new toy, Some just started the cycle over again. Now with no equity, cards maxed out again.

Done-I have to go to work so I can pay for what I need and then want.

I ask a simple question, now I am being accused for not knowing more than my 50 mile radius? I am very knowledgable on world events, just not so much on Canada. Does that tell you something? Maybe Canada isn't very important when it comes to us Americans.

Buck50 thanks for answering my question.

i can see how the average american doesn't THINK that canada is very important to the USA, BUT, we are the largest buyer of your goods, and the largest supplier of oil and gas to your country, so we really ARE quite important to the welfare of your country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Point Taken.

Someone was talking about greed?

Here's one for ya, (mortgage relief stimulus) the Democrates insisted that someone who lied on their mortgage application NOT be penalized and STILL be able to receive aid. Here's the kicker...if you ARE paying your bills and your mortgage and if you want to re-finance chances are you won't qualify in these stressful times.

Now that's just dandy.

Did you not get the memo? It's our turn to sacrifice!

My gagging picture isn't working....

Who ever left me red rep and didn't sign it. I'm glad you use your credit card for breakfast. No sure what your point was on that.

My point was that this kid cannnot even aford to go out to breakfast before a ride because he is so far in debt. Oh, btw, I use my card for breakfast also.

Sign your rep. If you disagee, at least make a valid point and don't hide behind your keyboard.
