Large (36 inches wide or wider):

• Kenmore (Sears) Elite 5896[2] , $1500

The Kenmore (Sears) Elite 5896[2], $1,500, scored highest. The Samsung RM257AB[SH], $2,500, adds quietness and split fridge and freezer compartments that can freeze or chill; the Jenn-Air JCD2290HE[W], $2,300, adds superb temperature performance and cabinet-depth styling. Pick the low-priced Hotpoint HSS22GFT[WW], $760 (it measures 34 inches wide), if you can live without stainless-steel trim.

However, a quick read of the Reader reviews of the sears kenmore side by side will show that everyone rates is a 1 star. The ice maker has broken on every single one of these fridges... and yes, my boss has the fridge and needed the ice maker fixed...

brushwolf, i have been reading online that the Amana fridge with the bottom freezer is the SHIZ!!! everyone loves it and it has an outstanding repair record... i might have to go that direction

My Maytag refrigerator that is only about 9 years old is going out on me and it is time to get a new one.

I have had so many problems with the Maytag product line (Front load washing machine that danced across the floor, dishwasher that the rack is rusting out and smells like a garbage dump, and a refrigerator that the door shelves fall out of the door, the plastic pegs that hold the shelves in are broken off, the defroster module keeps going out etc, etc)

So Maytag is out of my vocabulary. I have horror story after horror story on thier cruddy engineering.

I am looking at the LG side-by-side.

Anybody have a LG refrigerator that would care to give me an unbiased review? Good bad or ugly, I want to hear it.

I know, I know, this is a snowmobile site, but heck, this is fouled plug.

LG could be just fine but if you go to one of those appliance parts suppliers and ask them which brand is a combination of fewest problems and lowest cost to repair they say Whirlpool. I have Kenmore (Whirlpool) refrigerator and a Whirlpool washer. They are both 16 years old and the only repair was $16.00 on a drive coupling for the washer.

My uncle sells and services appliances on the side when he isn't farming. He could work on appliances every day of the week but doesn't want to. He sells Whirlpool exactly for that reason. Fewer problems and more time for other things. Sells them and hardly ever sees them again.

so you had problems with trails service???? good to know, i was gonna buy all my stuff thru them, but switched to sears for that simple fact!!!!!!!!!! plus i'm getting the kenmore all fridge and an upright kenmore all freezer that will go side by side in our new kitchen! it was a tough call, but i felt the service from sears would be better, especially since we don't live in town!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trust me on this one your on the right track with Sears!Trail is a joke and a long time friend ex sledder is the service Mgr at Trail.Kenmore is Whirlpool on the washer and dryer portion.
