reeds

2010 m8 race gas turbo running 10 lbs of boost is a blow off valve needed
I cant seem to keep reeds in it. First set 1100 miles (oem ) second set 190 miles (oem) third set 50 miles (boysen turbo reeds) fourth set 90 miles double stacked (oem) I do have ovs reed stops. Sled runs great would like to see 12 lbs if i could only keep reeds in it . i also run a intercooler and cold air intake . Any thoughts HELP

Add a 3/16 piece of mild steel to the end of your reed stops and it should make them live longer or get the OVS stops if you arent a welder.. You NEED a Blow off for sure, you are making the reads work hard with no BOV. Go to napa and get a cheap bov off a 911 porche for 70$ and you are on your way.. put it on the airbox and make sure the the thing is open at idle.... make sure the spring is clipped/cut down enough so its open at idle.

Doesn't anybody else think that maybe the fact that he got 1100... then down to 10% of that means something else is up?

I push 12-14 psi & get about 600 (minor corner damage when i pull them, I could push them another 200 I bet) per set. I'm also not super lean on the bottom, which some people seem to feel makes a big difference?

I'm not saying don't get better reeds, but if you're getting 50 miles from them... NO REEDS will solve the problem, you're just band-aiding a bigger issue.

Find the issue.

Oh, should have mentioned I run stock cat reeds in stock cat reed cages with stock cat reed stops. No bandaids.

That actually seems really low for idle, but what do you see as you roll through the powerband?

same filter system its just not under the hood .through out the power band
usually 12 to 13.8 . chatted with cuttler today and they think is could be a
turbo surge causing it . They also mentioned stock reeds are fine ,thats all they use . Lean spot will not cause reeds to break.
