Redmond vs Moses Lake

I have phone interviews at a company in both locations this week. Looking for insight...

From what I've been told, same salary, benefits, time off, etc.

Priorities (in order)

1) Tie: Riding and social life. (Plan to ride a lot. There is a possibility one of my best friends might be moving to Spokane this winter. But coming from Michigan, meeting new (fun) people is a big deal.)

2) Money. Cost of living is higher in Redmond...

3) Summers. I am a huge fan of water sports, dirtbikes, rzrs, and sunlight.

4) Hunting and fishing

Ready... GO!

Moses Lake is in the middle of the desert, 100 miles from Spokane or Yakima.

Redmond is on the wet side of the state.

I don't know you or even live out there... but let me tell you that Redmond is light years better for your list.

Just east of the three sisters, (which still have a little snow on them) surprisingly warm compared to the upper Midwest, climbing, river sports...awesome forest nearby...

I'll leave it at that and let the experts from the areas take it from here.

The Bellevue/Redmond area is one of the most expensive areas to live in.

You want sunshine? Seattle/Puget Sound area is not where it's at. http://www.currentresults.com/Weather-Extremes/US/cloudiest-cities.php

Travel time to riding is roughly equal. Redmond to Stampede Pass VS Moses Lake to Reecer/Blewett, Wenatchee, Chelan, ect.
This of course depends on the AWESOME Puget Sound area traffic.

You could always commute from Wenatchee to ML, then be riding from your house out through Mission!!

You would be 1 1/2 hours from you friend in Spokane VS 4+ hours from Redmond.

Same salary as the west side, but living in the east? Can't go wrong my friend. Well, that's not all true, the social scene will be slow in Moses Lake. But you'd have Spokane I suppose.

As some one else stated, vastly different cities.

This is really good information. Thank you!

I have been on the east coast this summer and been down around Boston and Connecticut and their traffic is unreal.... And Seattle is worse?

And in that sunshine article, it says "Besides the Pacific Northwest, cities with frequent cloudy weather are mainly near the Great Lakes."

I have spent my whole life in Michigan and the last 5 years in snowiest place east of the Rockies... I'm used to the coudy weather, but I'm pretty much sick of it. Especially in the winter. Sunshine days in Houghton are few and far between and cherished. I'm pretty tired of that program.

Moses sounds like a better fit. It is flat, hot, desert and the lake smells. Tons of recreation at either area but far more sunny days on the east side.
How about working in Redmond and living just north of there where it is a little dryer, cheaper, close to Mt Baker/Stevens riding? Just to add to the confusion :face-icon-small-ton

I would definitely entertain that depending on how terrible the morning commute would be. I'd say I'm willing to have at most 25-35 minute drive to work if it meant I could live in a better area.

In my opinion, my time is very valuable and I'm not wasting hours a day driving to work.

Live at both. Redmond hands down. Plus more opertunitys for future job growth. Redmond closer to hills moses hole closer to trails.

I've been around both locations for work

I see you are 23- Bottom line is this, there are tons of hot women in Bend, 10 miles south of Redmond. Girls are hard to find in Moses Lake. Redmond used to be a Population of about 14,000. now it has doubled. there are tons of stuff to do in Redmond, lake billy Chinook is about a 40 min. drive, there is good sledding about 1-2 hour drive. dirtbikes and atv's are abundant. I recommend you find a cute Cowgirl, they will teach u a thing or two. I never paid cowgirls any attention when I was younger, born and raised on a farm, until i spent time in Redmond. Quickly Learned what I was Missing out on. YEE-HA.

Haha nice!! But I'm talking about Redmond, WA... Should have clarified I guess.

North or east of Redmond you are quickly out of the "city"....and a reasonable drive to sledding. A 30 minute commute is realistic depending on time of day.

OOPS! yeah sorry about that, my comments are a state away on one end... Your other mom helped me figure that out on the phone earlier:gossip:

Not a mom joke, honest:face-icon-small-ton

Because these 2 locations are so different, do you like the city(population) and all the things that go along with it? Do you like high end stuffiness? Do you like everything new? Do you like traffic? Do you like paying extra for things because of city name or location? Outside of work what would you regularly be doing? Then there's the whole liberal vibe, not sure where you would fall in that or if it even matters but it is real in that location. Or, do you enjoy all the opposites of the answers to those questions? I make my way around the Western part of the state daily/weekly and some areas I like, some I tolerate and some I dislike. This area I tolerate to pass through or stop by for business but I'm good to move on. Nice areas on the outskirts but then you have traffic at most times of the day.

Grew up outside of a town of 2000 people. Went to college in an area larger than most eastern states but only has a total population of 250000.... So rural is my thing obviously. That being said, half the population of the town I went to school in was college students. That's not typical.

Pretty much the only thing that attracts me to Redmond is the ease of meeting new young people. Buuut, I think it's quality over quantity as far as friends go. I much rather have one awesome friend then 10 decent friends. And judging by my experience on the east coast of meeting a bunch of young city kids, is they all fall into the "decent friends" category.

I hate traffic. Hate it. and I am pretty politically conservative on most things.

The only "mom" that I think you could possibly be talking about is Michelle from OTS?
