Recommended Meds in a First Aid kit?

I have been going through some of my gear and I have a pretty good First Aid/ Survival kit put together.

One of the things that I do not have is any sort of pain reliever.

Think along the lines of someone breaking a bone and having to either sit and wait for help or suffer the pain on a ride out if it isn't too severe; what would be the best to put in a kit?

I don't live or ride Colorado, so Acapulco Gold is out of the question. I am thinking over the counter.

Roxies. 40mg for broken bone or anything requiring a medevac.
Aleve for sprains and bruised egos.

I keep some left over oxycodene in my first aid kit. Haven't needed them yet but someday they might come in handy

Be careful with that. Not sure about where your at but here in MN if you are found to be in possession of a controlled substance (Oxycodone would qualify) without a valid prescription or not in the labeled prescription bottle you can (and most likely will) be charged with a felony drug offense. Most of the time the legit ones such as having 4 pills from an old script stuck in your first aid kit will eventually get dismissed but I don't need that hassle. See it all the time here in my office (probation.)

At least 4 generic perocets (in original labeled RX bottle) for pain, 3200 mg of ibuprofen for inflammation (800 mg 4x/day), and a splint and sling for broken bones.

I broke my wrist this summer on an ATV and we were 4 hours away from our campsite and another 4 hours down the mountain and drive to the closest ER. Having generic Percocet available made the trip back to the campsite barely bearable. I saved a dozen from my pain treatment post surgery to keep in all of my power toys (atvs, sleds, and camper)...If you ask nicely your pharmacy should have no problem printing you extra labels for vials to keep everything kosher.

Just a reminder that vicodin products (hydrocodone with acetaminophen) effective 10/6 are now a schedule II controlled substance-same category now as morphine, oxycodone, and cocaine.....yes, a little trivia cocaine is a schedule II unlike marijuana which is a schedule I.

I sell drugs for a living to fund my lifestyle.

Whiskey and nitrous oxide should do the trick!:face-icon-small-hap

Yes, they would be better than nothing in a pinch! I guess I should add whipped cream to my first aid kit for the nitrous oxide propellant in it.

I was trying to be responsible by not mentioning ETOH...but I had a pint of whiskey in my ATV storage box and used it to extend the benefits of the pain med I took for the long drive back. Can't recommend this since ETOH and APAP can cause liver damage if you aren't careful.
