recomendations for ceramic coaters?

I know a really good place in Fort Collins. It was <$100 for a single pipe. I've never had ceramic work done from them, but I have had a lot of Powder coating done. It was all top notch, very impressed with the quality and price. Sorry I can't remember the name of them, possibly "boyds coatings'. I will try and find my invoice.

Are you in Vail? If so I can probably take your pipe in for you. I drive from Fort Collins to Vail every weekend (and back).

Moved from Vail over 10 years ago but the tag and email addy just kinda stuck, in Denver now. I am actually driving to FT C next week (CSU alumni) if you find the place let me know.

Thanks,

Gooding Performance / Ultimate Coatings does a dark grey thermal/ceramic coating. 1800deg IIRC. For powdercoat they have a variety of textures and colors to choose from. Have had many things done there in the past (mostly audi performace parts). One of their mechanics (Forest) is a good friend of mine. Prices have gone up a tad in the past few years but it's still cheap compared to other places...

Applied Coatings in Wheat Ridge did a great job on my turbo housing, down pipe and header. I think it was $120 for the three pieces.

I've been VERY happy with the powder coating they have done for me. I will use the ceramic coating from them soon.

What Audi parts have you had done?

A couple exhaust mani's, turbo hotsides and pipes post turbo were done by them in their ceramic/thermal coating. Had my valve cover and a couple intake mani's powercoated through them. Everything they've done for me has held up very well. I push 35psi out of my 2871R setup with very high egt's too.

Wow, 35 psi is a lot of pressure on that turbo. Sounds like a quick death to that turbo. Most guys don't run them past 25 and that is pushing it.

That turbo is capable of bending rods on that motor, be careful.

This turbo is definitely out of its efficiency range at anything over 25psi but I still make great power even at 30psi and above....my IAT's EGT's A/F, BTDC's, CF's, etc are all in perfect running order. I usually run it at 30psi now but I only run 104oct race gas all the time. On my brand new file I run much lower EGT's at 30psi then I did at 25psi a year ago. Not too worried how long this turbo will last since I am probably going bigger in the near future (HTA 3076R). My motor is bored/stroked and fully built top to bottom with a head that revs to 8500rpms... I work on Audi's and VW's all the time and work with one of the best tuners in the business so I don't recommend anyone else in that community to push a turbo this small that hard. I data log my car religiously so I know I'm running perfect.

Here are dynos between all my setups over the last few years.

Very nice. I wouldn't mind taking a look at that sometime. I am in the Fort as well. I was just mentioning the boost and rods, because as I am sure you know, all too often some young kid straps a huge snail to the motor and **** pops. They wonder what just happened, LOL.

I had a 337 for a while before I moved to the TDI.

Nice. Yeah TDI is making a big comeback in the audi industry. Wish we had some of the motors they are getting over in EU though. If you ever need to use a lift for whatever reason I'm installing one in my garage by the end of the month. Paid for it in May and it still hasn't shipped yet!

Very nice. This week I will actually be taking the turbo (one piece exhaust manifold) off along with the intake. My VNT actuator is getting hung up from the soot. Would be awesome to use a lift for this but I really need to get it done soon. If the cleaning of the turbo vanes doesn't do the trick I will be bolting a larger snail up to her. ;-)

Jet hot ,, just sent them a rusty Y pipe ,, came back all spiffy and shiney 55$ to my door
