recoil dis-assembly on IQ

just pulled the recoil assy. off an 07 700 to change out the
rope and it looks alot like the cat design which i have had
zero luck in tearing down w/o creating a total train wreck.

any tips???? also, i am installing the small dia. no stretch rope
and was curious what over all length would be good for making
her easier to start? thanks MM

I would pull the cord out and then use a good clamp to prevent it from recoiling. If it unwinds, its a mother to figure out the right tension again. Make sure that you use a good knot and throw in some silicone to hold the knot in place.
