Received New Push with Standalone Vi-Pec

Running turbo 2 strokes with AFR and EGT's at the same time as well as plug checks and wash confirmed the ran best around 12.8 AFR resulting in stable 1250 egt's and nice golden plug color. anything below 12.5 AFR and you could feel it start to feel "dead" and audibly run worse. 12.5 afr resulted in approx 1200 egt's and 12.0 was around 1150 egt's. rode the sled at 12.8 all winter and ripped. any lower and it ran slower and didnt have quite the top end it did at 12.8. if you ran it at 11.7 it felt like running in sand, hit RPM but just didnt have the pull it should have.

leaner = better performance but 12.8 afr is something i am not comfortable with, we rather leave some hp on the table for reliability. At the end, it is the customer choice.

Does it read IAT as ambiant temp or is it tied into the airbox to read true charge temps?

It is read true charge temps in air box after turbo with boost.
But this sled has intake air sensor also and we can check what is different temperature between this temp sensors.

I saw a lot of dead engines with 12.5 afr at wot.
Max egt was 1250.
I am running at last year 12 at wot, egt was 1330 after long pull and i never had any issues with my pistons.

What elevation of your sledding ?

Hi. Very good tread with good info :-)
Is the knock sensor working good with the Vipec?

You are right dont go leaner than 12..12,5 might be good at higer altitudes.
I have tuned a very higly modifyed BD M8T running 12-13 psi at sealevel with pumpgas.
Could never go above 12 afr..this is with IC and lowcomp 10:1

May be you right guys. We didn't clutch issues and we still don't know what is best clutch setting for turbo poo.
We are running
79 gram
altitude 4000ft
8350 rpm approximately.
Stock springs

If turbo gurus would recommend for us what is the best clutch settings it will be very nice.
Thank you.
May be tomorrow i will add some more video files. Need to check have i good vids or not.

Sorry guys. I checked what is exactly boost was at video.
8 PSI. But we will try do it some upper at next weekend.

Have you tried a straigh helix in the secondary?
Do you know the stock spring rates? Or do any other knows this?
If its possible to use softer spring in the primary with stock engadement it will be good, then we dont need to use very heavy weights..I have done a lot of tuning on the M8T , but waiting for the the Push kit I have ordered.

Still use stock helix and stock springs.
Primary Spring 140/330
and i don't know exactly numbers of stock secondary spring.
We have changed only weights.
But we are working at this.

One more build

Honest question for those of you overseas (Realbass and Rydning)...

What octane is your "pump gas"?

People around here (riding at 5000-8000k feet elevations) are running around 6-8 lbs of boost on STRAIGHT 91 octane pump gas. If they try to go over that, they have to splash a gallon or two of 110 octane into their tanks.

I have 98 recerce octane number, its the same as 92 in your way of displaying it R+M/2=Pump octane number in Usa.
The racefuel is very expensive so we like to lower the compression to around 10:1 The aviation fuel is ok price but very hard to get for normal peoples..With low comp and enough fuel + good tuning we normaly run 10-12 psi with pumpgas, and this gives a very good performance at sealevel for sure :-) I have a M8T I have tuned with 15psi 240bhp but needed 25% aviation fuel to get 100% safe at long pulls. This sled is incredible fun to ride :-) :-)
And when I get the ProRmk in the same HP leage it will be even more fun sled to ride..

You absolutely right man.
+1
We have the same fuel and situation of race fuel. It is very expensive.
In Russia doesn't has little aviation. It is very expensive also.

That sucks. I can get 110 oct from the pump at the fuel station a few miles from my house for about 50% more cost than 91 octane. Makes it a lot easier to tune with good fuel!
