Reason USA still has integrity and pride!

I just want to point out the fact the in Fargo ND all the flooding has drove a point home to me why our country needs to rid ourselves of its current presidents ideals.

My friend lived there for several years and still has contacts with people there. They were having a conversation this weekend on how they have handled this current crisis. Local people were alerted that the potential flood was on the way. They called off schools, closed busness's and worked together as a town to fight this thing off. MOST impressive filling 3 million sand bags were done by a majority of middle schoolers to college kids. If you had a potential home risk you would be dropped sand bags and up to you to organize neighbors and take care of business. I know there is still alot of property lost but for the most part they have fended off the worst of it. They have converted domes to house the sand bags to prevent freezing...unlike KATRINA victims that used domes to wait out govt. help. You dont see people begging for a residence, beggin for food, begging begging for a govt. check. You see people with pride and integrity taking care of there problems!NOT HANDOUTS<-----------------this is what its about!

Sorry for the rant but it had to be said.

Good Rant. There just seems to be a real lack of accountability everywhere today. Sometimes it takes a crisis to get it all going in the right direction. Katrina hit a pretty poor part of the US where the people are used to having things done for them by government. THe old feed a guy/teach him to fish thing.

Midwestern people know how to take care of themselves. Can't say the same for the vast majority of the country.

It could be a disaster the same size or bigger than Katrina and it still wouldn't get as much publicity as Katrina.

I think the majority of people that don't live in major metropolitan areas have the ability to take care of themselves.

You, you, you mean.........they arent on the roofs with signs asking for help? Or shooting at the helicopters that do come to help? I thought that is what Americans did, just like the americans did in Louisiana? Help us! We too po' to run from danga!

I'm not taking anything away from these facts. And I believe they are facts. Just watch though, "the highest" came out to say he is going to help. The media will paint a story of the administrations help and probably never mention the things mentioned here or similar stories of real people, real children, real things.

Good post!

On another note.....
Looking over all of the pictures of people working together to help themselves,
there is usually someone smiling in the pic!

I've hucked several sandbags myself & I just don't recall having the urge to smile!

These people will be alright!:)

The outpouring of support for the makeshift animal shelter is also heartwarming!

There is always a cause and effect and every action has an equal reaction, therefore The poor part of the country was caused by the fact that the people rely on the government rather than do the work themselves. Swampy:eek::eek::mad:

Awesomely true. I believe the same thing happened in 08 in the midwest.
a ton of flooding and the people came together and took care of their homes, business's and towns.
They did it themselves, they were not waiting for someone to come do it for them.
