Had some extra weight on the tunnel, mobbed a good 9 mile section of whoops straight at high speed and say hello to my little kink.

Can anyone recommend some repair options? I've got a slight crack started, I was thinking drill out the a small hole on the crack to stop it, bang it out, and maybe put on a full VEI bumper. Should that hold? Thanks for any advice.

The full length VEI bumper/tunnel support will be your best bet... I just have the short VEI bumper and it is super strong; I never sweat it about putting weight on my rear tunnel any more!! But seeing where you kink is, I'd say you'll need the full length bumper....And the plus side is you could have it powder coated white to look custom with your sled!!
On a side note; has anyone ever glued the VEI bumper on with Lord's adhesive rather than riveting it??

Thanks for replies everyone. Meathooker I'm real interested in your bumper combo, sent you a PM.

What is the purpose of the hose that is clamped to the running board support strut?

I do a bunch of backcountry snowboarding with my sled, the hose is to protect the strut from the edge of the snowboard, unfortunately what I really needed was some extra bracing. I've been running this setup for three seasons now, surprised it took this long to buckle. I had a feeling back in October when I saw some braces at the snow show that I was going to need some additional bracing, once again I should've followed my gut!

Had a similar issue when my brother ran into the back of my sled. I straightened it out as well as I could, cut some .125 aluminum plates of the same shape for the back side, then riveted and bolted the skinz rear bumper through the tunnel and the reinforcement plates in the back, held up well for 2 years.

we make one in a bumper/brace combo or just the brace:

this one was bent down to the track and we got it back straight. taken two seasons of beating and still good to go

NICE!!

You hit the head with that lip curving out and following the bottom edge of the sides. Looking back, I would be all over this one + the stuff from Fastrax for the front part of the tunnel.

Repaired tunnel!

Thanks Meathooker, the Better boards bumper worked out great! Despite the little cracks and little crinkle it looks good as new. Great service and quick ship.

Only put 2mm alu plates cut the same shape as the tunnel on my brothers sled when he stuffed it in a ditch and bent the tunnel that way, has held for 5 seasons!

We also sell a nicer looking version of the alu reinforce plate, but we're in Sweden so i bet there's no takers!?...
