put the slp pipe y pipe and muffler, ski doo says jet up and shim anybody run theres stock, New to ski doo cant believe 5 horse needs a rejet..???

Was told to run 490-500, look at piston wash. Heard shimming the needle causes it to be too rich in the mid range. Only (starting point) recommendations, every ones situation different.
 
I have the same set up that you are running. I am at 2500' here at home and was told by SLP to jet up to 540's and run 2 shims. At Cooke they told me to run 490's and no shims. If you add the head (low elevation) they say jet to 560's and 2 shims. Sounds awfully fat to me but I don't know. I hate messing around with jetting. I hope this set up impresses the hell out of me or I may go back to just a can.
 
what the best way to change the main jet on the XP...it looks like its going to be a pain

no rejet here at 8000-10000 feet---got 3 -all 480 jets--tried 490's --too rich--480's still a tic rich
