Rattle sound on left side

Haven't really had time to investigate much but last Sunday went for an awesome ride in the mountains. Toward the end of the day I was hearing a rattling sound off and on on the clutch side. I popped the panel but didn't see anything that looked odd. Noticed the secondary can be jiggled in and out a little but the main bolt, this is my first Polaris so I wasn't sure if that was normal or not. Kept riding with no issues. Any ideas?

Also heard what I think was the track rubbing on ice in the front of the tunnel, mostly heard it when accelerating from a complete stop.

Check your primary spring, it will rattle when broken. Did you loose some rpm's?

Did you look under the engine with a flash light for anything like an exhaust spring or anything else floating around under there? How about track tension? You could be having some ratcheting from a loose track? Can you describe the noise better? Is the rattling metallic? The more info you can give, the better others can help, other wise were all over the place stabbing in the dark. Hope its something simple.

Check the drive shaft bearing behind the secondary. Hope we don't have a repeat of the 2013's

my flatland axys did this last year all the time and we never did narrow it down. Some guys on hcs may have an answer though. I just got used to it on mine.

I have had ice build up in front of the track with rubbing on both trips i've done. it can add some noise

Still haven't had a chance to investigate. Had a busy day and currently have no heat in the garage. But it just sounded like a rattle or clunk. Right around the clutch area or matbe my left foot, was kinda hard to pinpoint it. I did have the little adjuster nut come loose on my secondary on my 3rd or 4th ride and that made some noises but I caught it and tightened it up. I did check for that tho and it wasn't that.

Not sure if this will help but a group of us went to Wolf Creek Co. last week and 2 of the 3 Axys 155 when you would let off the gas or hit brakes going down hill would make a nasty sound like the chain was loose and grinding, but would not do it under acceleration. We called our dealer and he said there was a memo from polaris to tighten the track that the track deflection would hit the bulk head. We did that and the noise was gone. The 3 in tracks have to run tighter than the 2.6 because of lack room.:face-icon-small-con

Could be what I was hearing I have I think about 60 miles on it now and still need to do the first track tightening. my boiler went out so the garage has been quite cold for awhile. Kinda puts you off from working in it. bout 25 degrees in there right now.

Mine was rattling on the right side, up and down with RPM. Turns out it is the pull start handle. My '13 Pro had a rubber piece on the bottom, this one is all plastic. It was worse when a small ice ball was sitting next to it. Drove me crazy for a bit until I identified it. Sounded like it was coming from my belt drive!

weird, my axys has a rubber piece on the bottom of the pull start handle. the rattle on the left side could be the big washer inside the secondary clutch. i have had a couple sleds with that sound.

Mine was doing this first ride out.

Got the track tightend up. It was quite out of spec. I'll let you know after my next ride if I hear anymore sounds. Didn't see anything out of the norm anywhere else sub a seemingly blown shock..

Was out on my first ride today, 155" 2.6.

Heard this sound several times today, clutch side, was when starring slowly from a dead stop going slowly. Sounded like the belt was slipping in the secondary, was thinking it might need to be tightened up a bit.

But not sure after reading this...

Add me to this list, I hear the rattle as well. Pro 155 2.6

I'm prob due to tighten the tension but that wouldn't explain a "rattle" sound to me, but what do I know...

Did a ride around my house area and didn't hear a rattle this time. So maybe its the tension, or maybe its some kinda snow buildup that's causing some sort of rattle. I have no idea. No plans to go to the mountains anytime soon, but next time I do I'll be listening and update this thread.

I think there might be to little pressure on the belt when it is in it outer position, causing it to slip in the secondary.

I will be trying to change the helix to more angle and some more spring tension to se what it does.
