Ran my Assault out of fuel

I ran my 09 Assault out of fuel and then when I put more gas in it wouldn't fire back up. I got spark but won't start. Do you have to prime the pump electronically and if you do what is the procedure?

Hit the kill switch to the off position, pull the starter cord 6-8 times, turn key and kill switch on and it should start in 3 or 4 pulls. If it doesn't start repeat the procedure.

Or do the official procedure that Mountaoin horse has posted many times.
