Rail tip stabbed track need help

I have a 162 05 king cat. I recently put a anti ratchet drivers on it. With that I cut my rails back about 3/4 of a inch. Long story short I stabbed my track and ripped one of my hi faxes off. The worst part is I have a anti stab kit on already but is connected to my limiter straps. So here the problem when my track stabbed and ripped the hifax of it tore the bolt hole in half and ruid the tip of my rail. My question is can I cut my rails all the way back to we're my stan kit is mounted???? I'm worried that my rails would be to short at the tips and could stab again?? And ideas or has anybody cut there rails back this far and had no problems? Thanks wes

I cannot answer if that could lead to another stabbing or not. I can tell you if the hyfax with out a front cap on the rails can sustain a hit(rock, stump) that will knock it out. I had that happen to me, was able to re-use the hyfax and replace the bolt. Now both of my sleds have a front cap with the anti-stap wheels.

I would purchase a new rail, cap and hifax. Also I believe the antistab wheels I have seen mount right at the end and will keep the track from catching the end of the rail. (The outside diameter of the wheel is even with the rail tip) If you have the wheels mounted to far back they don't do anything.

One other thing is make sure you aren't running your track really lose just because you have antirachet drivers. I shoot for 1 1/2" sag, no weight on a 162 track. If you get it to lose you can easily wad it up and stuff a rail tip through the window.

Hey Wes

I had same issue last season after installing drop brackets on my mod KK, and i have pictures on where to cut rails and mount ant stab kit if you like, for some reason and I cannot load them here today, I have never had a issue putting pictures on the forum before, my email is hymarkwfo@yahoo.com if you would like me to send the pictures, MADDOGWFO

'05 kings came with anti ratchet drivers from the factory so I'm curious what you installed. Even stock, people had some stabbings so shortening the rails was not wise as you found out. And as others said above they're not anti-stab wheels unless they are even with the rail tips.

after seeing a couple posts like this lately, i'm getting nervous. You guys think this is acceptable? Armey, if you only trimmed back 3/4inch then i'm guessing you were way out past this? I can trim back further but I think it will involve making new holes to mount my hyfax

Thanks guys.

I was going to have to mount mine just like your picture shows because of we're my anti stab kit it located and because of the damaged tip on one side. Have you riden you sled with the skid unit the way it is in the picture? Any problems or all is good. I'm worried it will stab again because its that short though. Also my 05 did not have anti rachet driver as stock so I added them. Resulted in shorting the rails.

This May Help

After installing drop brackets last season I was hitting drivers under breaking so I cut the end of my rails this way and installed ant stab kit, no issues all season with the end of the rails but had issues with servere cracking of rails near rear shock mount, so installed a new set of IceAge rails and had them cut like my stock rails were, quality stuff from IceAge MADDOGWFO

You can cut off where your hyfax mount if you drill small holes through the side of the hyfax and run wire through them. This may not look the best but it does the job. I have my rails cut back past the hyfax mount hole and then have the anti stab kit with the wheels just barely past the front of the rails. I have not had a problem.

I cut them back this far because I have a custom rear suspension that moved the whole skid forward quite a bit. I had to cut them this far back so they didn't interfere with the drivers at all.

I was a little nervous from all the stab posts I've seen lately so I fixed mine properly last night. I cut the rails past the hyfax mounting bolt and rounded them off nicely. Then I took my dremel and made the second support hole bigger and mounted my rails to that. Looks awesome. Heading to the mountains in 25 minutes!!

it ran awesome! track is good and track speed is much higher than the stock track. Lots of long pulls over some rough ground (steep & deep in the trees) and had no issues.
