On super deep cold days the engine blanket is not enough and I need to cover one or both radiators— at least some of the time. It is nice to have removable/adjustable radiator covers that slip in and out easily and go right into your backpack or storage bag.I have found by simply removing a little bit of the Yamaha louvre makes this easy. First, use a torch and heat up the plastic then with a razor blade remove everything that I have colored with a black marker without removing the very bottom tab.DBACBED9-BEEC-4A0E-80F6-04EB466DC8CE.jpeg

Then, with whatever piece of plastic you have handy, cut it to fit. I like to leave a little handle on top to make it easier to pull in and out. Sometimes when I am riding up the trail on a deep powder morning I will reach down and pull it halfway out if I see my temperature climbing too much.image.jpgimage.jpg

Constantly watch your temperature gauge. .Some days I run with my left side radiator cover on all day. Others, I have them both down on super deep down hills and then pull the right one up while I am going back up hill. Some powder days I don’t need either. Going down a road for a few miles in powder I might have them both in. Figure out what works for your bike.image.jpg

I use the same basic procedure. Works good. I've found that the sides of 5 quart oil jugs make great rad covers and come in many colors? They are also thin enough that little or no trimming is needed of the louvers. They can be cut leaving a slight rounded edge or chamfered slightly so that the leading edge slides easily over the surface of the radiators. Just another option.
