Rabbit Ears ?

How long does it take to get to "the tower" from Muddy Creek on a sled?

And - is this where the tower is?

I normally drive around to Dry Lake, but I'm thinking it must be about the same amount of _time_ to park at Muddy Creek/Dumont & ride the sleds as it is driving through Steamboat.

I've never ridden RE proper - a lot of time over near Buffalo Pass, but never actually parked on RE and ridden.

Thoughts? Thanks!

tower/muddycreak

Well it depends on the size of your sled and how deep the snow is. If your on a 136 w 3 ft of snow then it will take longer than a 163 will in same conditions. But if no new snow and still a 136 then it would b quicker but not as quick as the 163. I havent even figured it out with the different sizes of engine's. That would definitely affect time frames. But for most of sledders if you stay on the trail its about 10 minutes for the most part depending on traffic and any events that might b happening. Jk ;-) about 10 minutes or so merry Christmas everyone.sg

It's 13 miles and will take you a half hour or more on packed trails. If you make it in ten minutes, then you're averaging 70 mph...

Thanks, gents - I used the internet-multiplier (x2 in this case), which is still faster than driving around. And more fun.

13 miles @30mph = 26min, assuming it has been groomed somewhat recently, 30mph is pretty reasonable.

Is "the tower" at the intersection of RCR 38 and trail 1A?

Thanks!

Everyone should ride straight from the muddy creek lot to tower on 1A to get to the good riding. Leave all the crappy riding in-between for me. Never head south of the lot either. There is no good riding that way.

Yea the ears is crappy riding there is way better riding in other places there's just to many trees and meadows n snow n stuff it just gets in the way. Not sure why people go there.:face-icon-small-coo
