Rabbit ears parking

With ya on that Bushy. Lets see, Sarvis Creek Wilderness gets pounded by the twig fairies, the West side of RE doesn't. Those bastages use the groomed trails. There isn't a twig fairy man enough to make it to the goods in the Zirkel Wilderness. And the same goes for the Flattops and Elliot's Ridge.

I don't think any part of what is "wiwrdurnisps" at rabbit ears gets "pounded" so to speak.

They just make everyone wanna believe it does.

Look at it driving in on the road from the west, there are like ... 2 ski tracks ... that arent on the groomed trail (that we pay for).

Whatta joke.

Personally I'd just as soon see the lots stay the same... I think the Mesa needs developing....go there :D

The Mesa has been getting developed. Come on over but don't offer us up as the distraction from RE. Instead, the Mesa might be the example. We have a new lot up on top.
Not clear on how/why, but the Visitor Center and Mesa Top parking lot are plowed, and plowed well. Of course, they can't keep up with a mega dump and stuck vehicles, and too many overnight parkers, but CDOT employees do a damned fine job. The skiers also get 5 lots plowed out == must not be fuel tax dollars or registration money, right? (I count cars on my way up every weekend-- avg skier car count is less than 15; snowmobiler count is 30and up no matter the weather).

The RE crowd might want to find out who/what worked it out over here.
CSA? (I know, I know-- we don't all see eye to eye all the time but they have some pull.)
Did the proposed Kremmling club ever get off the ground? The Routt County club might be able to help.

Sarvis Creek is in between the Gore range and the South part of the Yampa valley. And it does get beat by skiers. but that's fine, let them go there.

Right now the link does not have much info but the plans are very nice - both dumont and muddy are getting much bigger and will probably be separated from the road.

Road to Grizzly will also be maintained better so there will be better access to buff pass and hopefully you don't have to worry about not being able to get out of the parking lot and long drive to get back out to loosely plowed road

The FS has done a lot of work on this plan

Fees were not in the discussion

Comment period should be starting sometime in Dec.

Sorry I was away from the computer for a while

Yeah, the link is just an irritating reminder of how important our opinions are.....no useful info, just a statement of what's going to be done to us. Why didn't you address any of the points I brought up? That's the kind of mentality that is typical of governing bodies that really irritates me. You make your grand announcements, expecting praise, but when someone dissents you just ignore them and behave like everybodies on-board. Of course they are, how could anybody not want more parking at an already too popular of a place.

No coincidence your from the northern front range club, CO Blizzards. Now you Greeley/Loveland riders (who number in the thousands and usually go to the Range) can sleep in and head up that twisty Poudre canyon and be assured a spot when you get there at noon. How do the local clubs, as in Steamboat Springs Routt powder riders and the Walden snow snakes feel about your huge parking improvements? Why is a member of the Blizzards announcing this? Could it be the FS is going to ram it down their throats too? Glad when I re-upped my membership I joined both those clubs and dropped the Blizzards, even though my employer is in Ft. Collins. Going to be hard to deny the masses of the front range their plans for Routt county, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who's not going to be bending over without a fight.

Like I said above, build a lot on Cameron pass at the Laramie river road and do something positive for sledding, instead of cramming more of us into ever shrinking areas. Don't like that spot, then Put a lot up on Deadman road at Killpecker or the N. Fork. outside of Red Feather. Same area, just from a different access point. VAST amount of ridable area that sits empty because the FS won't provide winter access. You guys can go ride there. Yeah, I know, the poor f,n moose don't ride, so god forbid we disturb those 47 animals! Another area the FS is looking to slowly but surly stangle motorized access to.

And now with the WRNF facing closures guess where those guys are going to come and ride..You watch, they'll put in 500 new parking spaces and within a few years the crowds will show up to fill those spaces and we'll be right back to a "shortage" of parking only our riding area will be getting more and more crowded. You'll still have to get up at 5 am to get a spot, only now you'll be sharing it with another 2000 riders. oh boy, can't wait.

Look at the snowies cluster fuch. They pack a lot more rigs in their, but it's the same story, you better get there early or you'll be riding miles of whoops. What happened to the lots they were going to put in there? I wonder if they didn't decide to put them at RE instead?

Here's an idea. Instead of having that lot at Dumont right off the highway, why don't they just keep that road open to the Dumont Lake campgrounds? There is more room to park there and they would have to do very little excavation. And it's pretty much away from general eyesight. Just a thought.

There will never be anything done, anywhere in the rocky mountain US, especially in Colorado, to expand OHV access while Salazar is the secretary of the interior.

That guy is as big of slimebag as I've ever seen in my life.

The only way any proposals to actually expand OHV access in Colorado or anywhere else for that matter will only come if that ******* isn't there.

x2 on that, it'll only get worse as long as he's around. "Knock on wood" it doesn't....

Sorry there is not a lot of info in the link right now. There is space for the bigger trailers that come in so they don't have to park along the roads. I am sure there will be a bunch of info by the tmie the comments are formally requested.

WRF has very minimal closures so that should not increase use on RE.

RPR is asking people to write letters to the FS to get support for expanded motorized parking on RE in their article in this months snowscoop. Not sure how this thread conflicts with that request. RPR does a great job on RE.

Also working on parking on Cameroon too, trying to get better maintenance onthe state lands for parking there... Gould area is where I ride most of the time, WAY less people and better snow last year and a shorter ride
