Rabbit ears area conditions

do you have your southeast and southwest mixed up? southeast according to google maps is gould and southwest is rabbit ears?

your info is great because i have not been there and will be in 2 weeks so i just want to clarify things.

also, we are renting a cabin in the coalmont area and wondering if there is any other trailhead we can access from there or if still recommended to go to the parking lots on the highway?

Yep you have your directions right. From Coalmont you should be able to ride or short trailer to the Grizzly creek lot, and then right up to Buff pass. What cabin, i'm curious?

a cabin we found on vrbo.com. just houses/cabins you can rent.

where are the locations to the grizzly parking lot and rabbit ears parking lot?

trying to find them on google maps to have a better idea where to be looking when we are there.

Grizzly Creek lot is northwest of coalmont a few miles on hwy 24. Just follow 24 west on google maps and zoom in and you'll see the Grizzly Creek Campground. The parking lot is before the campground. Can't miss it. Pretty sure you could ride from your cabin, but i'm not sure if the road that branches off of 24 is open in the winter. Most of the gas stations up here have maps. The Routt National Forest Map would be useful to you for seeing the big picture.
