Quickstrap on 509 goggles?

I am debating getting a pair of these 509 goggles. I have read what a lot have had to say about them and they seem to be a wise choice for a goggle.. Now looking into them, I see they have the option (for an extra cost) to use the quick strap system on these.. This is what I use on all my helmets and goggles and I love them, but have ran into a few pairs of goggles which this system does not work too well on.. My question is, Has anyone else ran the quickstraps on their 509's? I see the upper foam on the goggles is a little high and it may cause an issue when taking the goggles in and out of the helmet which is the issues I ran into with other goggles and want to make sure I have no problem with these.. Any help is much appreciated.. Thanks

i have the first generation 509s and use quik straps with no problems. last years do have extra thick foam.

Yep,
Use the quick straps. They work great, just a pain to lace the strap through the sides. But I think that's the same no matter which goggle you use. I have a Thor helmet and the 509 fits great. Works like a champ

i bought the quick strap kit. if i did it again i would just cut the strap that comes with it and sew up the ends and not spend the extra money on the straps

So it seems the quickstraps seem to be OK with these then.. I just hate it when the goggles are a pain to pull in and out of the helmet because of the foam on them..

On a side note, does anyone have experience with the lenses that come with these?? The Chrome/Yellow tint?? I know the brown and the other polarized are better, but I just want an opinion on the chrome/yellow that comes with these.. Anyone on these?

I was kind of wondering the same, I have a Troy Lee Designs helmet and these 509's have a very appealing look to them but do they function well?? The quick straps are a must (in my opinion) for avid snowmobilers and I would like to see a little more feedback on this issue as well

I have the 509's and have used the quick straps with and without the extra connectors that 509 sells. The quick straps are a pain in the azz with or without the add on connectors...wouldn't waste my money on them. Love the gogs though...especially the polarized.

Can you post a picture of the goggles and the additional connection needed for the quickstraps so I have an idea of what they look like.. If they can be used w/out their "add on" why would it be needed?? Just wondering.. Thanks everyone for all the help so far.

I'll try, my chit is packed in the attic. There might be a pic on the 509 site, the additional connection is supposed to keep the goggle closer to your face when on the helmet but I don't think it does much honestly and the straps are harder to put on those things than the goggs.

The intent was good as I don't think 509 expected the quickstraps to work on their goggs (at least that is what the site says). I just wouldn't recommend them after buying them....my .02.

So basically what you are saying is that even though the site says you NEED them, you actually dont need them at all for the quickstraps to work..I just want to be sure so when I order I get all that I need and dont have to turn around and pay $15 later + shipping for something I could have gotten on my first order.

Correct, used my quick straps for several trips w/o add on connector. I bought the connector to try when I bought a polarized lense.

alright cool.. Can you or anyone else post a pic of their goggles with and w/out the special connector? I just want to see the differences.. I cant get a good shot of that section of the goggle or find any pics of the connector on their website.. Thanks

We will be releasing our own version of the quick strap kit this fall. These will be an actual quick strap release kit that is far superior to the velcro brand that is on the market now. Also designed for easy install with all 509 (and any other brand) goggles. So if you don't need quickstraps immediately, I would highly recommend waiting until we launch our new strap kit this fall. And trust me, once you see them in action, velcro will quickly look obsolete!

I already have the quickstrap kit that I want to use on the 509's, but would be interested in your setup to try out for sure.. I dont know if you can say yet, but whats going to be the price? Comarible to quickstraps?

I have a couple pairs of the 509's from Tom and I just cut the straps that come with the goggles and attached then to the quickstrap ends.
My wife did the very small amount of sewing that was involved.
That way I was able to keep the cool 509 straps with their graphics on them.

I have no pictures but you DO NOT need the additional thingys.

i have 09 sinisters with quickstraps and the 509 short strap conversion so you don't have to cut the strap. they work great. little tough to thread the strap through the connector piece though, i ended up having to cut the threads because it was impossible. but they work flawless and are awesome!

definitely reccommend them to everyone!

What do you mean by "short strap conversion"? The $15 add-on to use quickstraps?
