quick track question

So I am taking the Apex in this week to get the Challenger Exteme put on and I noticed today that the stock track has a little bit of the outer lug trimmed a bit. Will I have to do that to the extreme? or will it clear the tunnel as is? thanks.

I run the challenger 174-2.5" and it will fit as is. The clearance is very very close up at the front top where the heat exchanger meets the cast support, When its all apart I ground about 1/2 of the excess edge of the metal edge away (near the rivets) thus gaining about 1/4 inch of clearance. I also relieved the corners of the cast piece gaining about 1/8" in these areas. The "rib" on the heat exchanger can also be ground down to 1/2 its size.
I would get under there and look at it with the stock track installed, and mark where it's close, then when it is all apart you can do the clearancing.
When done I had about the same clearance as the maverick had. Also I removed all the crap in the tunnel rear area as it gets pretty close at full compression to the "sheild" at the rear. you can pull the springs and move the skid up to see where it gets tight.

I would also highly reccomend while it's apart to go with 19/42 gearing as it makes a huge difference in torque, (you will need a 70 link chain btw) its a cheap power gain and will let you turn those big paddles better. You could go with just a 19 top gear and keep your 68 link chain too. I also removed about 1 1/2 inches off my snow flap to help put less snow in the tunnel.

Best of luck..........you will love the camo, powerclaw is also a good choice.:D
Do some clutching and you have a beast.

Yes it will clear by maybe 1/16 on a inch in the front area, it MAY hit a very very small ammount on the sides at the outer tip of the outer paddles, if it does you can trim the paddles outer corner really easy with a pair of wire cutters.You would only need to take off maybe 1/4 inch on a 45 deg angle. you will really like the track....:beer;:beer;:beer;

i just install a extreme track

What I did was to gain more clearance at the front cooler. Take a sharp thin chisel and start at one end of the cooler and with a hammer tap, tap, tap,
it will slowly peel the lip off. Do that on both lips on the front cooler. Works super slick. Also a good time for timbersled drop brackets. Also suspension is you are flush with cash!! good luck.cr

Mine fits fine.

When you carve donuts it rubs on th far outside edges of the track.

I have the 174" 2.5 extreme and love it!!

Floats like crazy and hooks up too!!

I just picked up a used apex and it has the extreme on it already. So I can get rid of the shield in the rear of the tunnel with out any problems?
