QUICK...Should I buy this M7???

Also posted in Cat forum.

OK Guys, I've been wanting an M7 for awhile. Cant find any that are relatively cheap in this area. I have a link:

http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...QAdIdZ45445318

Mileage is higher than I'd like, is it a decent sounding deal (keep in mind everyone else selling M7's wants $7800+ in Alberta). I dont want the engine grenading at 3000KM's either which is what I'm wary of.

Guy says he wants to sell for $6000 quick and I've been talking with him. Of course, I would let it warm, ride it a little, rev it, check suspension, check plugs, oils, liquid levels and such before buying.

Guy says:
It runs awsome, I bought sled off of friend who bought it new. Sold it to when he bought his M8. Went through Dealer inspection last spring at C&C Cycle before I bought it. It had clutch's done at around 1700km and the track flipped which helps on the Attack 20 track. I put new slides on it at around 2000Km, For Mods it has a D&D Y-pipe and light weight Can, V-force 3 Reeds and a High flow air cone. It is set up for 6000'-9000' beacause I do most of my rideing in the mountains(which is stock setting on the M7) The only thing wrong with it is has small crack in hood . Selling beacause Im buying New M1000

Sound like a decent deal at all? M8's are going for lik $9500 around here (07 and 08's!!)

Any updates/recalls I should be aware of?

Thanks Guys!!

If I buy south I cant LOOK at the sled first, it'd be a buy without seeing deal. Shipping a sled cant be cheap either.

What do 05/06's run down south, and where can I find ones for sale?

Thanks,

Just for an idea of what things are worth, check out ebay.

If I were in your shoes, I would contact a few local dealers & tell them what you are looking for.
Many will be willing to sell at cost (wholesale cost) this time of year, & you would get to check over & such before buying.

prices

look in the swapmeet on here for prices in the us. 05 M7's have been selling in the low 5000's, you might find one cheaper now that its the end of the season. 6000 in Canada dosen't seem that far off considering the cost of fuel to come south. Don't know how customs works but they're probably going to take some funds from you when you cross the boarder. If its what you're looking for and you have the cash do it then stop shopping for sleds after you buy and you won't be disappointed. The motor should be okay at that mileage if it hasen't been beat real hard. Rebuilding the top wouldn't cost you that much if you have a little mechanical ability. Good Luck.

rebuilding the top just requires??? Im thinking pistons and rings? Isnt that the bottom end (as with crank and bearings)?

Whats that usually run if I do the labour?

A friend bought a 2008 M8 for $5,500.00 from a rental company in West Yellowstone. I saw the sled, 1800 miles and looked brand new. I would bet they have a few left.
