Quick D to C3

We bought a 600 Friday 2 months early

We were trying to wait till March or April to buy a replavement for the 03 RMK 800.The 2011 had the oil pump stopped returning on the tensioner and over oiling so it couldnt make the trip to Island Park this week.No parts int the Pacific North West to fix it infours days before the trip.
We bought Pro 600 demo with 600 miles. I looked at Pros at the WSSA show last fall and thought the QD was a great inovation. The Poo factory boy said by 2015 all Poo will have QD.
It now appears we need to budget $1000 for reliabilty mods in the future.
These QD issues are extremely disappointing.

LOl, yea im sorry if i find this funny, but your right..... On the other hand i kind of feel like we need to get used it cause i just dont know if its going to get any better...................

I really hope there are some initial bugs to be worked out, and next year they'll have a new DS that's not a POS, with a consistent runout, or they'll make some changes to the QD system. I was going to buy a 13early to mid season, but decided not to, so I'm really hoping next year is the ticket.

Just a simple question here...something I have been thinking about......I think that one of the reasons the 2013 feels so snappy and has great throttle to snow "feel" is because of the simplicity and directness of the quik drive belt. I have always thought that the tensioner and subsequent "bending" of the chain or belt around a tensioner takes away some of the efficiency of the system..........any thoughts on this? Maybe MH has a feel for this thought?

That's not a simple question , we beat it to death even before the problems reared it's ugly head . Those of us took a @#$%^&*! beating from the majority . Plain and simple if the drive system was buildt perfectly and there is no chance of any flexing caused from driveshaft , tunnel , bearings braking so on and so on it might work without a tensioner . The machine would have to stay in pristine condition  Even with the tensioner the belt still has to stay within it's abilities . Did Poo really think that they could mass produce some slop out of balanced glued garbage ? Guess so by the sales .
Before someone asks me what I ride ? I'll tell you a Snowhawk

$1000.00 difference? No thanks, my thoughts are the c3 is every bit as good or better. Just see doubling down on a sales pitch.

IMO the CMX drive system is by far a better system, moving the brake to the bottom, new drive shaft, drivers, jackshaft, bearings, ect, tensionor pushing from inside out and not outside in.

So with that being said, the C3 system is not as good or better than CMX's.

Yes it is cheaper and will hopefully do the job, but for an extra $1000 you get all new shafts that will cure the runout problem that the stock system suffers from.

Either way Polaris did drop the ball on this, hopefully for the 13 owners they get the piece of mind that the changes to the CFI have helped with reliability which seems to be true according to Jaynelsons thread. Cheers

That could be , but that nine year old donkey does things these new sleds are just starting to accomplish . Your putting some serious money on the table or it's chump change , one of the two . :face-icon-small-hap

No music just riding

Official C3 QD conversion pics

C3 SyncroDrive 2013 kit has been working good on turbo and non turbo applications. Here are some of the benefits of the C3 kit.

  • 275 Grams (0.61 lb) less rotating mass
  • Currently available in Gear Ratios from 1.77 to 2.52
  • No break in period
  • Available with a belt that will handle 60 degree F higher temperature so will work with most turbo kits
  • More clearance for the bottom gear
  • Direct bolt on takes as little as 1/2 hour to install on stock sleds (turbo kits may need modifications)
  • Gear and belt changes in minutes
  • Inexpensive 8mm pitch belts

for those who have gone to the c3, did you have to adjust your clutching after install? specifically clutch weight? up or down?
