Quick Avid Driver/Power claw track location question

I am setting up my drivers for my power claw track. I got new 8 tooth 3.0 pitch combo drivers. Can anyone tell me what dimension I should set the drivers apart? Should they be in center of window on track or towards the inside edge?

Thanks!

My recommendation is to mount the drivers toward the inside edges of the track windows. I mounted both drivers slightly touching the inside edges of the driver windows and ran them 350 miles with no issues.

The outside edges of the track are very close to being centered from the sides of the tunnel on both sides. Also keeps the track from floating side to side.

If in doubt call Robbie at Avid he provides awesome product support.

The best way is do not press old drivers off until you set them in your new track (pitch is different) but laying flat an a flat surface out your driveshaft/drivers in the middle of the track making sure it is centered in the middle of the drive cogs. Then take a strait edge and mark you drive shaft at the edge of the track,on both sides.
after you have done that press of the old driver off. press the speedo side on first and you can now check from your line to see if you have it on to the proper place in the track. once you have that one then press the other on on (same thing keep checking until you have it to the proper place in the track). this info should be in the box with the drivers.

First off... what drivers do you have...Wahl or Avid..... If avid, new or original style?

Are the old drivers still on the drive shaft?

They are the new avid combo 3.0 pitch 8 tooth drivers. The old ones are off and the new ones are on now. I think I have them pretty close. I set them up to run toward the inside of the window. I am still just dry fitting everything since this is a complete suspension build. D&R...timbersled....powerclaw.....everything new down under. So...hopefully I have them pretty close. I measured everything out pretty well and I do think they are pretty accurate. I did take a bunch of info off of the setup when it had the old drivers on and the old track. I guess we will see.

So they look like this??

If so... they need to be CENTERED in the involute nub "slot" on both sides, with the track centered in the tunnel so that it tracks well...Just like stock involute drivers.

With this new style.... the critical mark is not the center of the track window... but the center of the involute nubs....of course without the teeth rubbing or catching...different than the older style where the teeth actually would help guide the track.

The easiest way is to look for the "rust line" from the old drivers .... find the middle between them and use that mark as the track center... drivers to be equal space from that center mark.

Ok...that is what I did...I will double check where the drivers line up on the track. The teeth are touching the inside window of the track right now. But I did pretty much center the drivers according to the rust marks on the old center driver. So..I think I am on the right track now.

Thanks!!

I would like to hear the info on your build sounds nice! what did you use what did you spend that kind of stuff

Hey guys, i have a co-worker who wants a P-claw under his 2010 RMK 800 162 or whatever track length it is, engine will stay bone stock

Q:
- buy only the Avids and track?
- gearing?
- leave the limiter strap alone?
- anti stab kit?

thx in advance:face-icon-small-hap

Power claw track on 8 tooth drivers, less clearance than the stock 5.1 track.
Some have used the PPD/Carls/Wahl Involute 3" pitch drivers, but the clearance at the roof of the tunnel is much to tight for my preference!

New style Avid drivers, 7 tooth with the P-claw track, Anti stab wheels (I like the Ice Age for the quality and sturdyness compared to the Wahl Bros)

This is the setup that I actually have on my sled... good clearance without D&R.

Stock gearing is great... with the smaller driver... no need to change it out. Run good synth oil.

Limiter strap... suck it up one.
