OK, for some reason my 14 pro melted down with 150 miles (only 30 with turbo and not blaming the turbo kit as we are not sure what happened yet)

pretty sure dealer will not be getting me any warranty help because of the obvious turbo, so.....

Anyway, have to exchange the cylinder, go with Indy dan???? or someone else. He looks a bit higher, but not a lot for what is supposed to be a better cylinder .

Are the torque values the same on a '13 as my '14, as i only have the shop manual for a '13.

head bolts had a grey sealant of some type under the heads, but i see no mention of it in the shop manual.

Any other tips to put this thing back together. It looks to be pretty tight to slip the cylinder back on the pistons.

guess a four stroke guy should stay four stroke lol, almost 4000 miles all boosted on the nytro and still running strong lol

Yes. Exchange the cylinder with Indy Specialties. He will send you a re nic'd cylinder with a proper fitting piston. He will also stand behind his products-- unless the problem was caused by owner (even then he will work with you).

First thing I would do is diagnose the '"why" the cylinder/ piston melt down so you don't repeat it again....

Sorry to hear about your luck! Certainly some investigation is required. If you haven't pulled the overstructure and tank do so now. Have one guy hold the rings while you slide the cylinders on, easy.

assume you mean the oil tank???

Yes we are investigating what caused it, but logs appeared to be good on the af's, have one guy saying not enough fuel, but plugs say otherwise.

Anyway, was wondering about the over structure Looked like it wouldn't be too much to take out?? Have to look in the morning.

No I was referring to the fuel tank, not sure if its necessary but in the end it is always easier having everything out of the way, I would pull the oil tank and clutch cover as well.

Grey stuff is a thread bolt sealant. Use alittle, like Perm teflon, and you might avoid an issue after assembly. You might not have to, but, they can leak without it.

would three bond sealant be similar???? I have some of that i think Or do you mean more like pipe thread sealant with teflon (have white)

thanks

I use yama bond on my head bolts . I have done it both ways without over structure and with . It is a pain removing all the wiring so I do not remove over structure anymore .

I just took the over structure off and moved the clutch cover/reservoir aside. 2 sets of hands. Pull fuel line fitting from the rail behind the secondary. Not as bad as it looks.

First figure out what happened in the first place (already said I know). Seen a guy melt 2 motors in 18 miles because of a faulty or piss poor mapped fuel box from the kit builder.

It is Threebond 1211 sealant that we use on engine rebuilds like that at Carl's Cycle Sales. We have the cylinder in stock as well if you need one. Give us a call tomorrow and talk with Daniel in the Parts department and I can get you all set up with everything you need. 208-853-5550! Look forward to hopefully hearing from you!

sincerely thank you for the offer but parts are already on the way.

Yes pull the over structure and the oil tank/clutch cover. Will save you so much time in the end not trying to fight around those things. plus allows you to get a good look at everything. The over structure doesn't have to have all the wiring pulled off just unplug the ones that are holding it to tight and stretch the rest to set it out of the way usually next to the clutches or something.

I like to have the y pipe all installed on the cylinder before I put the cylinder on. Feel like that is way easier than trying to get those allens tight with it in the sled.

I think you've got your 3bond answer - but - I have seen peeps use pipe sealant on the headbolt. I haven't, at least not yet. Just Perm Ultra Grey. And yeah, service manual specs loctite 242, but nothing for sealant on the head bolts. Do use pipe sealant on the temp sensor.
