Questions about my dragon

Hey guys

Just picked up an 09 dragon with about 1400 miles, updated pistons for sure, but not sure about the reflash. It seems to me that it is burning alot of oil. If I go through 3/4 of a tank, I'll burn up 2/3 of my oil tank. Is this normal? Also, every time I go to engage the clutches after going down hill there is a clicking noise once it engages. Is there something wrong with my secondary? Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

Clunking noise is normal, its the because the rollers moved into the reverse notches in the helix while coasting. The oil consumption sounds high, you might check to see if the oil pump is set right.

You need to adjust your oil pump, that is what determines you oil mix. 40:1 is where most like to run them. Go to http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177443 and read on how to adjust your oil pump. Next is get rid of your "out of spec pistons" Yet to see anyone that they are in spec. You can run the fix kit that many are having good luck with. Here is what I did. http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=269999

There was a thread in the Pro-ride section about what the targeted oil consumption should be on these motors. Everybody including the Professionals have agreed that a target of 32:1-40:1 is what everybody should be running. I've run mine at 32:1 since new and also add 1/2-3/4 of an oz. to every gallon of pre-mix into the tank. My motor looks brand new.

Next time you ride your sled, fill your oil tank and use a magic marker to draw a line. Then ride it and measure how much fuel and oil is used for an accurate ratio. Believe me, after working on quite a few of these, each sled that needed motor work, was running a high ratio.
