Question????

I have two '06 800 rev's and my wife was wanting to go to Michigan this winter to go ride with her family. Well we live in Wyoming and ride here at the elevation of 8000 to 11000 or so. Someone told me that I have the DPM in my machines which is true. They told me it's just like EFI and I can take them down to 1200 to 2000 ft. above sea level. I don't think this is right, I'm not a mechanic but i think I would have to rejet the sleds to that elevation. So is this true or what?:confused:

Had 800 rev's as well and yes, other than clutching your good to go. The clutch should have the solid pins install and turn your clicker to #1. That should be all you have to do. I use to live in North Dakota and rode at 600ft MSL and ran that setup. When I went to the Mountains I would put in hollow pins with the 6mm pins installed and run clicker #4. It's super easy if you have the tools. If not it would only take your dealer 15 minutes per sled to set it up.

No, no re-jet at all. Just adjust the clutch and you will be golden. DPM uses atmospheric pressure to act on the float bowl and do your jetting for you. The jetting is fine. Leave it alone, mess with the clutch a little and you are good to rock.

Your kidding me that's it. No re jet just adjust clutch and go. That almost sounds to good to be true. Nothing is that simple, it can't be true.:beer;

I do the same every year, change your clutch to 1 and you are ready to roll.

I talked with the dealer a while ago and he said we would have to weight up my clutches. Is that necessary or just by adjusting the clicker good enough.

Depending on what rpm you see riding the mountians you might just get away with going down to 1 on the clickers. Might over rev slightly, but it wont hurt anything. The rev limiter is set at 8250rpm if I remember. I guess it's a matter of how much time you are willing to put into swapping things over for the time you will be riding. It doesn't take long if you have the tools, but I suspect you don't. I would go to 1 and ride it.

When we go it'll be just for a week probably only riding for a day or two, maybe three at the most. I don't think that in the lower peninsula of michigan they have any hills where I'm going to be pinned out the entire time. Thanks for your help I appreciate it greatly. Still pretty new to the sledding community. But enjoying it. This was the first full year that I have rode.:beer;:beer;:)

For that little bit of riding, just set the clickers to 1 on the primary clutch and ride the sleds. As Dave said the worst that will happen is you will touch the rev limiter every now and then, thats no big deal.

Cheers, have a good ride!!

I used to live in mich I rode snowmobiles there for 18 years and now in colorado for 17 years and the deep lug tracks will not hold up to the hard pack groomed trails they have, plus the hyfax will melt down and stick to the track in only acouple miles even if you have scratchers because the tall lugs hold you up out of the snow. the gearing should also be changed by about3-4 teeth on the top gear, which would require a longer chain. in addition the clutch will most definetly need to be wieghted clicker 1 will not be enough,jetting will work the elevation is average 600 to 1200 ft even in the U.P. I would just rent a sled and ride and have fun . not worth the time , effort,and$ to change it only to change it back when you get home , beside the likelyness of trashing the track .sorry for this info but you will be better off to rent

Why would you have to change the gearing? I was thinking about renting sleds also. Thinking about a crossover sled instead of a straight up trail banger that way it won't be to much of a change from my mountain sled. Thanks for the info.
