Question on oil pump setting

Looking at my 2010 assault and on the oil pump the marks don't line up at idle. They cable needs to be tightened to line up, does this mean it won't be getting the proper oil at idle? Is this how you adjust the overall oil flow like the old 800's? I was reading Kraven's tech tips on how it is to rich from factory. Should I just leave it and monitor what the ratio is? Thanks

the marks should line up at idle. if you have to push the throttle to get them to line up it is set rich.

I had problems with setting this for quite awhile until I found out that the marks line up once the slack comes out of Throttle cable which means it is not lined up with 0 throttle because of the slack in the cable. The oiler arm return spring will always pull the thumb lever closed.

In order for it all to be set correct, as you push on the thumb throttle, the lines will match just before the Throttle bodies move. Its all about the slack

I agree with this being the proper method to setting the pump. It is always a good idea to monitor the oil to fuel ratio anyway.
