Question on installing "the fix" kit...

I've done the top end in my dirtbike a few times now and I feel comfortable enough to take on this task myself. I will be installing the kit sometime over the summer so keep in mind I have lots of time. Question is... Should I pull the engine? Does it make it easier or is it a waste of time to pull it just to do a top end? I've never done one in a sled before so what better time to learn?

I've done topends in mine a bunch and it is easy. In your case as in mine when when I bent the crank it should be pulled all the way out. You should do that so you can inspect the oil lines for rubbing, mine had some decent wear in them. I would also change out the throttle body boot, mine was already starting to tear with only 2600 miles on it.

Just pull it pretty easy and as said you can check everything ect...

I'd pull it, i have 500 miles on my 09 and have two oil lines that r almost worn all the way through.

I never pulled mine when I put the fix kit in . BUT, with the stories of oil lines rubbing through, probably a good idea to pull it. Were the lines that were worn visible at all without pulling the engine?

Thanks for the tips :thumb: I'll be pulling it... I'de feel way more comfortable inspecting the oil lines instead of the possibility of not catching it and starving the new top end of oil :scared: Thanks again!! Matt

Honestly with a inspection mirror you could check your lines and save some time. My suspect line was a inch off the oil pump on the mag side. The wire clamp from another line had dug 80% through. My motor was toast so I had to pull it but for just a top end I'd leave it in. If not take lots of pics. It will save you time when you route all the wires and the lines on the install.
