Question on anti stab and drivers

New Question. Scroll down.
I know there's lots of posts on this, but i can't quite decide on what I need. So i'm running a 04 King. My suspension and skid is stock - no drop brackets. I'm upgrading to a powerclaw. The guy I got the track from was parting out his sled so I picked up his drive shaft and drivers as well because my stock 04 drivers are wore out and he gave me a good price. His drivers are only supposed to have 120 miles on them. The "new" drivers are the 05 KK extroverts. I plan on putting an anti stab kit on, but don't know which one to get. Thats where I'm asking for some help. What brand? 2 wheel or 4? I sort of like the Hi performance one, buts only a 2 wheel. Does that matter?
My other question is this - How do I fix the drivers hitting the rail cap problem? Will buying the late build 05 end caps solve my problems? One guy told me this is all I need. Or will I need to trim my rails and how much?If possible, I dont want to have to do that (trim rails). Also, I notice that the BDX anti stab kit comes with its own rail caps. With these, will my drivers not hit?? Any feedback here would be greatly appreciated. Hope you all aren't sick of this topic.

Maybe this will help

I have done the same thing but I have a 2005 KK, after installing a new Power Claw and a 4 wheel Ant Stab kit from HiPerformance but I also installed HRP drop brackets, first ride out under slow speeds and bumps I had a terriable vibration, the rail tips were hitting the extroverts so I ended cutting off the end of the rails, no problems since, two things someone on here told me the drop brackets changed the angle of the supension and could have caused the issue. So not running them might work without trimming the rails, you will no if they are hitting if you have a bad vibration at slow speeds and bumps, I like the drop brackets this thing climbs awesome, no uncontrolled wheeling, good luck MADDOGWFO

On both of my 04's when I went to extros. I trimmed the rail tips and notched the caps to fit around the hyfax. What you want to do is, trim about 1/4 inch off the rails at the EXACT same angle that they are cut from the factory. Be careful NOT to cut into the square opening that the nut from the hyfax sits in. Then you notch the bottom of the rail cap so it slides on to the rail far enough that the bolt that holds it on can go through the same square hole that the hyfax nut is in.
In the pic you can see what happens if you cut into the square window, you end up losing a cap and stabbing your track. If you look at the other side you can see the RIGHT way to do it. You can see the notched cap and how it fits. The one that is screwed up is the very first one i did, Learned the hard way on that one. After this one mess up I never had a issue with rail tips or my extros.

One other thing, you can see my home made anti stab in there. It really wasnt in the right place to do any good at all. And I dont have one on my other 900 and have NEVER had a issue. I run my tracks as loose as I can without ratcheting.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I won't buy an anti stab kit. One other question. Does it matter what rail tips I use? Can I notch the ones I have, or are the LB 05 rail tips worth getting? I notice they are a different part number. Are they different dimensions?

rail tips

the o5 rail tips are shorter to accomidate the factory extro's, the rails are the same length in 04 and 05 just the tips are diff

Is this correct? I noticed the 04 King rails and the 05 King rails have a diff part #. The reason I ask is...I thought maybe I could get away with not trimming my rails when i went to extros on my 04. Today I went on my first ride with my new setup (Claw, extros, anti stab from Hi Perf. and the shorter 05 rail tips). Well it didn't work. Almost, but not quite. I'm just barely rubbing my rail tips on the extros.
I was thinking previously the 04 rails and 05 were the same. I thought the only dif was the shorter rail caps on 05. I thought/was hoping that the 05 caps on my 04 would fix the rubbing prob. Well this must not be the case. 05 rails must be a bit shorter.
So I guess I'll be trimming my rails anyways. But just a thought. Since I'm sooo close to clearing, would filing of just a hair of the rail cap and maybe a hair of my extro be a bad idea??

A bit more info to clarify. I probably rode 15 miles or so today. The only time it would rub was when I was coasting to a stop at slow speeds. Otherwise, it would clear. At the end of the day, there was just a very slight rub mark on the rail caps and extros tips. Thats why I wonder about filing down..maybe like 1/8in or less.

I replaced my rail caps with a new excess piece of Hyfax. Cut the rail and mounted it vertical. Ground the edges to make it rounded and really clears the drivers. I have a late 03 and the rails are different but same angled cuts underneath. Took about 3hrs to complete but looks like a factory install.

any chance you could post a photo. I'm interested in seeing it. I've been racking my brain on how I could fab something to work so I can still run the anti stab that I puchased.
