Question for diesel gurus

we have a friend that owns gas stations and has a bunch of fords. he says shoot 2 gallons of premium in your tank once a month to clean injectors?

Have you had issues? I ran a few tanks of B-20 below freezing with no problems last fall/winter.

Blue Sun (the stuff that I run when I purchase bio diesel) also claims to have bio diesel blends that work down to -30F

You Minnesota guys should chime in here - isn't ALL diesel sold in your state 2% bio blend?? (please correct me if I am wrong)

My father is involved in a large fleet of around 300 trucks. The year prior the company had this great idea to try to save money by switching over to a Biodiesel blend. The % I belive was 10% I would have to ask him to clairify.

At any rate, by mid December they had spent twice as much in fuel filters, tow bills, Etc. as they had the past 3 years. Apparently, once bio diesel gels it is much more difficult to reliquify compared to regular diesel. It was so bad one week they had to tow thier own service trucks (F450's) which were trying to service the fleet.

The only vehicle they didnt have a problem with was a early 90's dodge cummins.

I personally dont have any expirence with the bio, my dodge is only rated to run a very low percentage blend and after this story I steered far clear of the stuff.

Not all diesels are the same. You can treat your old John Deer alot differant then a late model common rail injections system with over 50'000 PSI of fuel pressure. The newer engines are calabrated and designed for ULSD. While its not the best fuel out there for injectors its still got plenty of lubercation.

What ever you decide, keep your application and a little common sense in the back of your head and you will be fine.

I have dump trucks you dont need to add oil to your fuel it still has plenty of lube in it.and on your filter your alright it wont take the injectors out.how many miles are you getting out of the injectors? you can run any kind of oil in the fuel if you are worried about it.

First time I had problems right away. Motor was replaced at 20k. Now I have 90k. Just has 4 injectors replaced, blown oil cooler, oil leak in bed plate. I hate to say it, but my next truck will probably not be a Ford. My Wife's Expedition has had it's fair share of problems too. (2005) I plan to get at least another 100k or so out of this sucker. It better make it. LOL.

6.0

the best thing you can do for the 6.0 injectors is to run 5-40 synthitic oil. This has tripled our injector life. An as far as the cold starts go, u need to get your computer flashed with the latest update, this makes a world of difference.

Do not add ATF to the 6.0, it will ruin the injectors. 1oz of 2stroke per gallon of fuel will help with injector life and make the engine run quieter.
