"Awhile back we had a thread about the socialized medicine in Canada and everyone from Canada who weighed in (except the one guy from the Yukon) thought it sucked. We heard some mind-boggling stories of people not getting help they needed and having to come here for it."

The 'everyone from Canada that weighed in' thread you refer to has 4 Canadians commenting on it.... after post #13.

Sigh.......too much testosterone for me. I think you're missing the point. I'm not weighing in on anything.

For those who are misinterpreting the intention and not reading the posts closely:

The first paragraph you quoted me saying was to give some context to why I was asking the question about the ambulance.

Based on the long wait times and inaccessibility for health care that FOUR out of five Canadians reported to me previously on SW and OTHERS have said outside of SW (sorry I can't document those, you'll have to take my word for it)...

I was curious as stated in my original post in this thread about how a rich actress from the States would have an ambulance come for her so quickly for a bump on the head. I wondered if there was a possibility that she was getting special treatment that a Canadian would not get.

SO, if that were the case, I was annoyed, thus the questions I asked (they were not a critical statement). Hollywood annoys me. It annoys me that so many people butt kiss actors when they aren't any different than anyone else.

I would think that Canadians would be angered IF they didn't get the same treatment some rich actress from the States gets.

From the posts following my question, I came to understand that trauma care sounded different from what other Canadians and the Canadian guys on the old thread were discussing (illness and long term care) and I stated that understanding in post #6, realizing that the actress did not get special treatment because of who she was, but that trauma care in Canada is different than what was described to me of non-trauma care in a thread from awhile back.

And I'm not as good at remembering some thread back on February 20th as you might be. I have more important things on my mind than remember the # of Canadians who said there were problems. I do know that EVERYONE but one guy in the thread had a negative opinion.

GET IT???

Seems to me that Canadian health care is something that IS an important subject on your mind..... counting the people "reporting" to you in a thread you had multiple posts in.

If you are as interested as you say you are in "socialized medicine...how does it work exactly?" (you've asked this multiple times on SW), might I suggest that you contact Health Canada (in Ottawa... they set the 'standards') and a couple of provincial ministries of health (they administer and pay for health care). You might get a more accurate and insightful answer than a poll of 5 respondents on a snowmobile site (not that there's anything wrong with snowmobile sites).
I'm done and I'll leave the last word and the final OPINION of health care in Canada with you.
