Question for anybody who has installed a HOLZ D&R into an IQ

I am working on getting my sled back together after installing the drop and roll, and have a question about how you mount the jack shaft on the PTO side. Instructions are not very clear, but it sounds like they want it mounted like this? With the bearing on the outside of the bulkhead. Both plates on the outside going through the bulkhead. Like this. Is this right?

What about the spacer? I saw a pic of a guy who had the holz kit on his as well, and it looked liked he had the spacer on the outside of the bearing? Not on the inside like stated in the instructions. Any help would be much appreciated.

You have it correct... You put the spacer BEHIND the bearing like you have it... It is about .215" thick if I recall correctly... this makes up for the combined thickness of the HRP metal plate and the inside flangette.

The spacers on the outside of the bearing that you saw are most likely the normal secondary clutch spacer shims... I would imagine that you also need to remove the same thickness as the spacer from the stock secondary clutch spacer shim-stack (between the secondary and the jackshaft bearing) so that the secondary remains in the same position relative to the primary clutch... You will want some float on the secondary... the same as a stock configuration.

Good luck.

NOTE: There are 2 spacers in the kit... make sure that you use the thicker of the 2 behind the bearing.. the thinner of the two on the driveshaft. (I think the thinner one is like .075" thick.... equal to the thickness of the HRP aluminum stock).

The driveshaft shim pushes the driveshaft to the PTO side to compensate for the new mounting location on the outside of the metal plate added with the kit.

Make darn sure that the jackshaft and driveshaft spin freely... I recommend doing this on a trial basis with no track, gears or clutch installed.

Enjoy.. Let us know how it works on the snow!!

Looks like you've got it right
spacer on the inside
Not much more I can say that mountain horse hasn't already said
Thanks Eric

Great thats guys. :) so the way i have the bearing mounted is also correct? Both bearing flanges on the out side the way it is here? You can even mount one on the inside due to the bottom hole being in the tunnel. But just making sure. Cause when i have both plates straight on the bearing they wont touch. I assume this is right? Just tighted all three a bit at a time till they are all sucked up against the bulk head? The plates will just have to bend some it looks like. Just want to make sure. And yes Eric ill be posting up a topic on the install, and once i have some snow time on the kit ill update the thread with my thoughts. :)
