question about 20' Pace Enclosed

I'm considering buying a 2001 8x20 Vnose Pace enclosed trailer, drive in, drive out the port front. It had some recent tree damage to the front top that was repaired, the top patched in two places with aluminum plates rivetted and some sort of epoxy all over it, and the front top nose piece was replaced. Along the seam at the top front, it was mostly realigned, riveted, and about a 6" wide patch of epoxy all along the top front. There are a couple of waves in the top too (I saw a 6" depression holding water).

The under frame is covered in surface rust, but it only appears surface. Tires don't show uneven wear and are clearly used. Both axles look straight. It was painted a year ago, but I saw no signs of recent water damage. Of course, the guy says "no leaks". There are a couple basic cabinets mounted inside (up high) and one top vent.

It also has next to zero tongue to it. The Vnose goes right to the crank which is right behind the ball connection. I was shocked to see the front end was so short. I'm talking maybe 12". But, I don't know if this is typical of Vnose trailers.

He's had it for a couple years, bought from his buddy, and never touched the brakes. So those will likely need a little work.

He's talking about $3,500. I'm thinking $3k, but I really don't know if any of this stuff is a big potential problem. It's western WA, so lots of rain.

Sound like a reasonable first trailer or should I keep looking?

You may want to take trip down to Lacey to have a look at the trailer selection at Olympic Trailers.

Ive purchased two seperate CargoMate trailers from them and got great deals both times...much cheaper than other dealers and more friendly.

Dirk (the owner) likes to deal in volume more than high prices...I dont think he makes a lot off of them, but like I say...he sells a ton of em.

Its worth a shot.
